"Never Say Goodbye," a music video directed by Peter Bogdanovich, starring Yoko Ono, Eric Stoltz and Tate Donovan. The video was originally created to raise awareness about AIDS and the Yoko Ono Broadway Musical ‘New York Rock’ whose profits benefitted AmFAR - The American Foundation for AIDS Research, America’s leading non-profit organisation dedicated to the support of AIDS research, HIV prevention, treatment education, and the advocacy of AIDS-related public policy.

For decades, Yoko Ono’s music had a strange problem: nearly everyone knew who she was, while far fewer people had actually listened closely to what she made.

That has been changing. YOKO ONLY, held this weekend at The Broad in Los Angeles, felt like another welcome correction.

The idea came from Yuka Honda, Ono’s longtime friend and collaborator, who dug into the catalog and handed the songs to musicians with their own connections to her work. Yo La Tengo, Nels Cline, Finom, Dave Harrington, Patrick Shiroishi and tune-yards were among them, all artists who have crossed Big Ears stages over the years.

A tribute can make its subject feel safely historical. YOKO ONLY did the opposite. Ono’s music still sounds unruly, curious, and very much alive.

Continuing in its series of Yoko Ono reissues, Secretly Canadian has announced that Ono’s seminal 1982 album It’s Alright (I See Rainbows) will be released September 18, 2026, in expanded CD and digital versions, and on vinyl for the first time in more than forty years, with expanded and enhanced artwork.

Single “Never Say Goodbye” is now streaming everywhere for the first time, alongside its 1995 music video directed by Peter Bogdanovich, starring Yoko Ono, Eric Stoltz, and Tate Donovan.
