A key factor in living a happy and fulfilled life is whether you are living it 𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒌 𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅 𝒐𝒓 𝒍𝒊𝒇𝒆 𝒐𝒓𝒊𝒆𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒅.
Accomplishment of a task gives mental peace because mind has one less thing to worry about. But when one task is finished, another one is ready to be born. Living this way, day by day, will make you miss out on the deeper meaning life has to offer. This attitude often results into complains such as life is boring or there is no time.
So how can one live with life as the primary focus? The secret is to focus on most important things in life first and then sprinkle in a few tasks each day as secondary priorities.
The first and most crucial area to focus on is 𝒑𝒆𝒓𝒔𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 𝒈𝒓𝒐𝒘𝒕𝒉. This includes 𝒑𝒉𝒚𝒔𝒊𝒄𝒂𝒍 (exercise, nutrition, rest), 𝒔𝒑𝒊𝒓𝒊𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 (meditation, prayer), 𝒊𝒏𝒕𝒆𝒍𝒍𝒆𝒄𝒕𝒖𝒂𝒍 (reading) and 𝒆𝒎𝒐𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒍 (play, socializing with family and friends) growth. Personal growth lays the foundation for a fulfilling life and positively impacts every other area. So do not miss out on these and allocate time every day unless you have some other urgency.
Next, it's important to balance 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒌 (education, job, business) and 𝒉𝒐𝒎𝒆 (meals, laundry, dishes, children's activities) responsibilities. A healthy balance between these two is vital for a thriving family, society, and even a peaceful world.
Finally, once your core areas are in place, you can add one or two 𝒕𝒂𝒔𝒌𝒔 each day to further your goals. Try to become more efficient in managing the tasks using ideas such as carpooling, buying items in bulk or combining shopping with other outside activities etc. This framework can guide you, but remember that urgent tasks such water or heater issue in the house, will take higher priority over any other planned activities.
