It was a pleasure to catch up with West Lothian Drug and Alcohol Service this month and to write a feature on them for the November Konect. Meeting good people doing good things, then telling everyone about it - that's mostly what my job is and I love it. The main message from WLDAS is that there is no need to struggle on alone, just get in touch with them and see what they offer

🫶 Teamwork makes the dream work 🫶 Linlithgow-based historian Bruce Jamieson runs a series of local history presentations over autumn and winter each year, in aid of good causes, which we help promote in Konect via Bruce's ever-popular local history articles. "Thank you for including my advert for my local history presentations, I received an excellent response. " The presentations are on Zoom so accessible to anyone. Hundreds of small actions all adding up to making a difference locally 💙

💚The weekend at the renowned holistic venue in the Trossachs could help stimulate healing, intuition and/or personal growth. Welcome to the August issue of Konect☺ This colourful (and very healthy-looking) set of magazines is being distributed now! In all editions, an article submitted by the Commonwealth War Graves Commission gives a background about the work of the Commission, who care for graves in most of our local cemeteries, to commemorate 2025 as the 80th anniversary of VE and VJ Days; a walk in the Pentlands; news from Colinton Village Enterprise SCIO (The Dell Directory); a summery dessert recipe, and wine with notes of summer rain - from the excellent local sommelier as usual! There's more of course - I hope you enjoy it!

Welcome to July 🌤 Our July issue is currently being distributed, 53,500 copies coming through doors across West Lothian and SW Edinburgh now, thanks as ever to the wonderful distribution team getting their steps in 💪 School's out, and our West Lothian cover photos are provided by Valley Heritage Centre , a reminder that it's a fantastic place to take the family during the holidays. It's also annual summer appeal time for who are busy putting together school uniform packs so that every child can go back to school feeling part of the team, so please help with their appeal if you can. There are local history articles, walks, wine, wildlife, community updates and a host of things to do in the local area over the summer
