Week three high school football previews for Mercer County teams!

Seven games comprise the Week Three schedule in Mercer County, with five of the seven games being region matchups. Sharon travels to Oil City while Lakeview hosts Moniteau in the other non-league games Friday night.

The third selection to the list of the 50 greatest players of all time in the Lawrence/Mercer County Church Softball League has set the league on fire since joining the Covenant Speed/Power in 2017.

All Corey Sternthal has done is be part of the current dynasty on Covenant, being named rookie of the year in 2017 and league MVP in 2021.

Corey Sternthal is now a part of the 50 greatest players in Lawrence/Mercer County Church Softball League history!

The second selection to the list of the 50 greatest players of all time in the Lawrence/Mercer County Church Softball League is the last of the original players from the league’s inaugural season back in 1978.

When he began his softball career, many of the players from last season were not even born yet! Now he’s playing with people a third (and even a fourth) of his age!

Bob Excely of the New Wilmington Angels (and the league’s elder statesman) has been named one of the 50 greatest players in the Lawrence/Mercer County Church Softball League for his longevity!

Next season will be the 50th anniversary season for the Lawrence/Mercer County Church Softball League.

As part of the buildup to this golden season, MHB Sports will join a special panel consisting of the commissioner, former players and coaches.

Each week we will honor in random order a current or former player who made an impact on the league over its 50 year history, for a total of 50 players.

Our first honoree is a player who played for the First Assembly Falcons and the New Life Saints until his untimely death in October 2021.

We are proud to announce that Kenny Stitt has been posthumously named one of the 50 greatest players in Lawrence/Mercer County Church Softball League history.
