Corey Sternthal Drives In 4 To Lead Covenant Speed/Power Past St. Joseph's Pirates

Corey Sternthal drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Covenant Speed/Power past the St. Joseph's Pirates 15-4 on Monday at 975 Wheatland Rd. Sternthal hit a home run to left field in the fourth scoring two, singled in the first scoring one, and doubled in the fourth scoring one.

The Covenant Speed/Power scored 11 runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. Sternthal doubled, scoring one run, Scott Stuart singled, scoring one run, John Metzgar singled, scoring one run, Eric Bombeck singled, scoring two runs, Mary Sternthal singled, scoring one run, Andrew Hamilton doubled, scoring three runs, and Sternthal homered to left field, scoring two runs.

The Covenant Speed/Power got on the board in the top of the first inning after Sternthal singled down the left field line, Tay Robinson singled to center field, Stuart grounded out, and Metzgar tripled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

Bombeck earned the win for the Covenant Speed/Power. The pitcher surrendered 12 hits and four runs over five innings, striking out one and walking none. Max Feeney took the loss for the St. Joseph's Pirates. The hurler went five innings, allowing 15 runs on 19 hits, striking out one and walking three.

The Covenant Speed/Power piled up 19 hits in the game. Sternthal, Bombeck, and Metzgar each collected three hits for the Covenant Speed/Power. Tyler Allen, Hamilton, Dillon Fair, and Robinson each collected multiple hits for the Covenant Speed/Power. The Covenant Speed/Power didn't commit a single error in the field. Allen had the most chances in the field with four.

The St. Joseph's Pirates piled up 12 hits in the game. Pat Flynn provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the St. Joseph's Pirates with two runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Ryan Logan went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the St. Joseph's Pirates in hits. Feeney and Anthony Cannone each collected multiple hits for the St. Joseph's Pirates.

Next up for the Covenant Speed/Power is a game at the Clenbanon Aces on Tuesday, while the St. Joseph’s Pirates square off against the Family Life Falcons and the Grace Chapel Rams on Tuesday.

Corey Sternthal’s Power On Display As Covenant Speed/Power Defeat Genesis Chiefs

Corey Sternthal hit three home runs and drove in eight as the Covenant Speed/Power defeated the Genesis Chiefs 17-0 on Thursday at 975 Wheatland Rd. Sternthal homered in the fourth, first, and second innings.

The Covenant Speed/Power scored 10 runs in the fourth inning on the way to victory. Sternthal doubled, scoring one run, James Geramita doubled, scoring two runs, Eric Bombeck singled, scoring one run, Melinda Nichols singled, scoring one run, Tyler Allen singled, scoring two runs, and Sternthal homered to center field, scoring three runs.

The Covenant Speed/Power jumped out to the lead in the bottom of the first inning after Sternthal homered to left field, scoring two runs, Andrew Hamilton doubled, scoring two runs, and Brett Heckathorn singled, scoring one run.

Sternthal homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the second for the Covenant Speed/Power.

Bombeck earned the win for the Covenant Speed/Power. The righty gave up seven hits and zero runs over four innings, striking out none and walking none. Craig Kohl took the loss for the Genesis Chiefs. The starting pitcher went three and two-thirds innings, surrendering 17 runs on 19 hits, striking out none and walking two.

The Covenant Speed/Power tallied 19 hits in the game. Geramita, Allen, Bombeck, Aaron Nichols, and Heckathorn each collected multiple hits for the Covenant Speed/Power. The Covenant Speed/Power didn't commit a single error in the field. Allen had the most chances in the field with four.

Steve Wethlai led the Genesis Chiefs with two hits in two at bats. The Genesis Chiefs turned two double plays in the game. The Genesis Chiefs didn't commit a single error in the field. Kristan Fedrizzi had the most chances in the field with six.

Next up for the Covenant Speed/Power are games against the Central Chargers and the St. Joseph’s Pirates on Monday. The Genesis Chiefs will face the Central Chargers and the City Cardinals on July 1.

The Covenant Speed/Power got on the board in the top of the first inning after Tyler Allen doubled down the left field line, Sternthal doubled down the left field line, James Geramita singled down the left field line, Tay Robinson doubled to center field, and Brett Heckathorn singled down the left field line, each scoring one run.

The Covenant Speed/Power added to their early lead in the top of the third inning after Eric Bombeck singled down the left field line, Melinda Nichols lined out, and Aaron Nichols singled to right field, each scoring one run.

Four more Covenant Speed/Power runs crossed the plate in the seventh inning to extend the lead to 14-3. Allen doubled, scoring one run, Sternthal homered to left field, scoring two runs, and Craig Kohl induced Bombeck to hit into a fielder's choice, but one run scored.

Bombeck earned the win for the Covenant Speed/Power. The hurler allowed 15 hits and three runs (two earned) over seven innings, striking out two and walking none. Kohl took the loss for the Genesis Chiefs. The starting pitcher went seven innings, giving up 14 runs on 25 hits, striking out one and walking one.

The Covenant Speed/Power piled up 25 hits in the game. Allen, Andrew Hamilton, and Heckathorn each collected four hits for the Covenant Speed/Power. Geramita, Bombeck, Nichols, and Robinson each collected multiple hits for the Covenant Speed/Power. The Covenant Speed/Power turned three double plays in the game.

The Genesis Chiefs tallied 15 hits in the game. Kohl provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Genesis Chiefs with two runs batted in. The number three hitter went 3-for-3 on the day. Caleb Lombardo and Kohl each collected three hits for the Genesis Chiefs. Steve Wethlai and Jason Powell each collected multiple hits for the Genesis Chiefs. The Genesis Chiefs turned two double plays in the game.
