The SOPRANOS’ Storylines & Characters – many of them are steeped and borrowed from the real-life exploits of the LONG BRANCH MOB – 1) Adriana La Cerva’s insistence on Christopher Moltisanti marry her so she could not be compelled to testify against him; 2) Herman Hesh was a composite of 2 men, one of which was a biggie in the music industry & operated out of Long Branch; 3) Tony Soprano’s knack of horse-racing strategy & love for the horse Pie-O-MY; 4) The Crazy Horse, Live Music Rock ‘N’ Roll Club in Long Branch (none other than The Brighton Bar); 5) Real life staff working behind the camera on the TV show The Sopranos, lives in Long Branch; 6) Long Branch gangster wrote a book while in jail about the Long Branch Mob-it was stolen and many of its contents allegedly ended up on the HBO series.

Hard to believe, but it wasn’t until 1979, that the government first attempted to prove a nation-wide criminal conspiracy—A syndicate: in other words, that the Mafia or La Cosa Nostra, existed. For the first time in history, “Operation Omega”, dubbed “The Great Mob Trial” by the newspapers, attempted to connect all of the Organized Crime Families together across the country. To that end, prosecutors targeted two cities as the head of this enormous criminal cabal: Newark and Long Branch, both in New Jersey. And because of Long Branch, the trial took place in Freehold, the county seat of Monmouth County. 6 men out of Newark, headed by Richie “The Boot” Boiardo and 4 men out of Long Branch led by Anthony “Little P***y” Russo were the main defendants. What do all of these have in common?
- The deal was struck and funds were raised to have the Statue of Liberty made in France and donated to the USA.
- President Ulysses S. Grant first discovered the cancer in his throat that would eventually take his life.
- Mary Todd Lincoln crossed paths on city streets with John Wilkes Booth, the man who would soon assassinate her husband, President Abe Lincoln.
- A diabolical deal was struck to corner the gold market, which lead to the “Panic of 1869” a nation-wide financial disaster.
- Jersey Shore Mob Boss, Anthony “Little P***y” Russo gets whacked.

What do all of these have in common?
- The deal was struck and funds were raised to have the Statue of Liberty made in France and donated to the USA.
