Candra Rogers, asst. principal at Collins Intermediate School, said a student who was having a violent behavioral incident threw a wooden hanger at her and hit her face, popping her right eye out of its socket.
Doctors were able to reinsert her eye, but she will likely be permanently blind in that eye.
Rogers thanked the community and the school district for their support, but she also laid into Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas Legislature for not doing more to fund public schools and behavioral services.
The student suspect isn't facing any charges at this time. His case was referred to the Navarro County District Attorney’s Office and the Juvenile Probation Department.

That student should be classified as an adult and held accountable by felony charges
