LOVE Statement of Direction. July 8, 2025
The recent sale of KDHX is a tragedy. But it is not the end of community radio in St. Louis.
We remain committed to a long-term vision for an independent, volunteer-powered FM radio station in St. Louis.
This station will present musical, cultural, educational, and public affairs programming that serves the whole community.
We remain committed to terrestrial FM radio because it provides the greatest access, exposure, and sound quality.
In short, FM radio offers the greatest possibility for growing community through media. And the community itself has overwhelmingly expressed a desire for an FM station.
At the same time, we know that Internet and digital-based platforms offer unique opportunities, and we will pursue them as well. But our primary vision and commitment remains to FM broadcasting as a proven foundation for community media.
We will achieve our goal – an FM community radio station – but it will not be overnight, and it will not be cheap. We need the support of the community now more than ever.
The DJs and volunteers of LOVE are honored by the support and love that the community has shown to us and to our efforts.
We look forward to working with all organizations that share our goals of broadcasting music, information, and culture through the power of radio.
This community is why we remain dedicated to achieving our vision: independent, beautiful, creative, educational, and exciting radio for everyone.
