๐ช๐๐๐ ๐ช๐๐๐, ๐ท๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ (04 ๐ซ๐๐๐๐๐๐๐ 2023). Close to 300 displaced and self-employed workers in Lapulapu City will benefit the DOLEโs livelihood assistance amounting to Php8.5 Million.
DOLE-7 released the funds to the local government unit of Lapulapu City as its partner in the implementation of the beneficiariesโ projects during the DOLE-7 Stakeholdersโ Dialogue and Recognition held last 01 December 2023- the event that marked the start of the departmentโs weeklong celebration of its 90th Founding Anniversary.
DOLE-7 Regional Director, Lilia A. Estillore personally released two (2) checks to LGU-Lapulapu City collectively amounting to Php8,567,230.00.
Around Php2.5 Million of the total amount will fund the livelihood projects of some 97 displaced workers who will soon engage with the following:
โข Sari-Sari Store;
โข Bigasan;
โข Tailoring Services;
โข Negosyo sa Kariton (NegoKarts);
โข Hot and Cold Vending Machines;
โข Hog Raising;
โข Crispy Chicken Selling;
โข Guitar Production;
โข Computer Services; and
โข Photocopying Services.
A portion of the total amount at Php5.9 Million will also help operationalize the livelihood projects of some 200 self-employed workers identified in the city.
According to DOLE-7 Regional Director, Lilia A. Estillore, each of the beneficiaries will receive livelihood starter kit assistance package.
โLGU-Lapulapu will be our partner in the implementation of the projects of the beneficiaries. They will also help us monitor the status of each livelihood undertaking. With this, we are assured that apart from DOLE, another entity will be looking at them and at how they will be managing their respective businesses,โ said Director Estillore.
DOLE-7 also shelled out the cost of the group personal accident insurance coverage of the beneficiaries with the GSIS for one year.
