A potential anomaly occurred involving a "Starship Block 3" booster (Booster 18) during ground testing, culminating in a rupture. The booster, being the first of the Super Heavy Version 3 variant, underwent initial cryogenic proof testing when it ruptured or exploded at the test stand in Massey's. This incident transpired recently, around November 21, 2025. This type of test-until-failure is not uncommon in SpaceX's iterative development process, as it aids in identifying design limits and potential flaws prior to flight.

There are currently three operational orbital-class reusable rockets in service: the SpaceX Falcon 9, the SpaceX Falcon Heavy, and the Blue Origin New Glenn.

Falcon 9: πŸ”₯(veteran first to land and to be reused rapidly)

This is the most frequently flown reusable rocket in the world, with its first stage boosters having completed hundreds of successful landings and reuses.

Falcon Heavy:πŸ”₯(space X's heavy lift rocket soon to be replaced with starship)

This heavy-lift rocket uses two reusable side boosters which land autonomously after launch.

Origin New Glenn: (πŸ’₯a very beautiful Rocket just entered service landed on the second try)

The first stage booster of the New Glenn rocket successfully landed for the first time on its second flight on November 13, 2025, officially bringing it into operational service for reusability.

Other systems are in various stages of development or testing, such as the SpaceX Starship (which is intended to be fully reusable but is still in its flight test cam aign and not in regular commercial service).

Blue Origin's New Glenn rocket successfully completed its second launch on November 13, 2025, from Cape Canaveral, Florida. The mission, designated NG-2, carried two NASA Mars-bound spacecraft and achieved the company's first successful landing and recovery of its reusable first-stage booster.

Starship is designed to land on the moon, and a lunar lander variant is being developed for NASA's Artemis program. The system requires refueling in Earth orbit before traveling to the moon, and its design takes advantage of the moon's lower gravity for a successful landing and ascent. While Starship has faced setbacks in its development, it is progressing toward this goal with the aim of landing astronauts on the lunar surface for the first time in decades.
