Take a breather when in Brașov for REF 2025 and step into the refined elegance of Muzeul Casa Mureșenilor, known also as the Museum of the National Anthem —just a short stroll away in the historic Piața Sfatului. Housed in a donated 19th-century townhouse, this charming museum preserves the legacy of the influential Mureșianu family, a beacon of Transylvanian culture and politics. One of the most powerful links to Romanian national identity lies here: Andrei Mureșanu, a member of the family, was the author of the revolutionary poem “Un răsunet”, which became the lyrics to Romania’s national anthem, “Deșteaptă-te, române!”. Written in 1848, during a time of nationalist uprisings across Europe, the anthem was first sung in Brașov and quickly became a rallying cry for Romanian unity and independence.
Explore richly furnished rooms, original artworks, elegant antique furniture, and a vast archive of over 25,000 documents, including personal letters, manuscripts, and musical scores. Open Tuesday–Saturday from 9 AM to 5 PM (Monday 11–17) and closed Sundays, the museum offers a peaceful, cultured counterpoint to the festival’s intensity. Tickets are a steal at 8 RON for adults or 2 RON for students and children, with a 25‑RON all-access pass covering several Brașov County museums. Don’t miss current exhibitions like “1001 aparate foto”, showcasing vintage photography gear—a visual treat even for metalheads.
