The San Antonio Spurs are all-in on their new era alongside Victor Wembanyama, and they just added a sneaky-good piece to the puzzle: Luke Kornet, who’s signing a 4-year, $41 million deal to bring his unique brand of size, smarts, and the beloved Kornet Contest to the Alamo City.
For the Spurs, it’s another high-IQ move. They get a big who understands the game, embraces his role, and can back up or even share the floor with Wemby when matchups call for it.
In a league where stretch bigs are valuable, Kornet earned his deal by doing the dirty work. Now he’ll bring that steady, team-first mindset to help guide the young Spurs around Wemby.
