🚨 105 independent schools have now been forced to close because of Labour’s reckless VAT raid on private school fees - affecting 25,000 children and ripping opportunity away from families who chose this path for their children’s education.
This is ideological zealotry with real-world consequences: lost jobs, broken communities, and families scrambling for places in an overstretched state system. Our excellent independent schools are part of Britain’s educational fabric, not a luxury to be punished.
Labour said this would fund state education - but that simply is not the case? In any event, the disruption to children’s education and pressures on the system far outweigh any supposed gain. We should be raising standards across the board, not punishing parents and educators.
Parents, teachers, and pupils deserve better than this government’s tax on aspiration.
