Over a decade ago, I had the honor of working with the Evers family—what began as an assignment became a bond, a friendship that grew into family.

Through that journey, I gained a deeper understanding of who Medgar Evers was—and who he still is to our city, our state, and our nation.

Standing beside his daughter, who embraced me and mine as her own, is a gift I carry with humility and pride.

To have even a small part in preserving his legacy—and to be a reflection of what he fought and died for—is a responsibility I hold close.

I’m grateful for every space I share and every soul who continues to fight for me to thrive. 🖤
