We are pleased to announce another improvement on our website. In order to better and more effectively integrate our original productions for our viewers — and to be well-prepared for future productions and live streams — we are now operating our own PeerTube instance.
PeerTube is part of the Fediverse, developed by Framasoft, a French non-profit organization. It enables us to operate our own streaming platform independently and without external dependencies, hosted entirely on our own infrastructure. PeerTube is best compared to YouTube, except that it is fully controlled by us. This marks another step toward becoming independent of major U.S. corporations and relying instead on European technology.
Our productions, as well as all our CC BY 4.0 content, are already fully available on the PeerTube instance. Our Apple Podcast feeds have also been migrated. Currently, we offer all episodes in the 1080p format previously provided on our website. However, PeerTube also allows us to more easily provide versions in lower resolutions — for viewers with limited bandwidth. We are therefore preparing a 480p version that will be made available for all productions except those under the CC BY 4.0 license. This may still take a little time.
The ability to download episodes, including subtitles, has been removed from the website, as this feature is now provided via PeerTube. This is a small but organizationally important change, as it saves us considerable time when publishing new productions.
CC BY credits beneath our videos are now also viewable on PeerTube and accessible via links from our website.
You are warmly invited to subscribe to and share our channels on our instance. If you operate your own PeerTube instance, you are also welcome to subscribe to ours. Our instance is listed on the official PeerTube website, and our content can also be found via the PeerTube video search engine. We will carefully review all subscription requests and kindly ask for your patience until we approve (or, depending on the review, decline) the request.
We do not allow account registration for users outside of the Nemeth/Star Productions team, as content creation on our instance remains solely in our hands.
You can access our instance here and are welcome to share our productions so that more people can see them:
