This page belongs to Bridget Watts dba Black Walnut Books, a book publisher, NOT the bookstore in Glen Falls, NY. I formerly ran the three-generation family business called Nature Study Guild Publishers, publishing the Finders line of field guides, along with other works of May Theilgaard Watts. I sold rights to the Finders series, along with use of the Nature Study Guild name, to Keen Communications* in 2014. At that time I started doing business (in Rochester, NY) as Black Walnut Books, to keep two titles by my grandmother, May Theilgaard Watts, in print.

*The Finders books are now available from Menasha Ridge Press, an imprint of AdventureKeen.

Know, Know, Know Your Oaks

In a segment about May Theilgaard Watts and the Illinois Prairie Path in a recent documentary about trains in the Chicago area, teacher Anne Keller, Phd, says her connection with May Theilgaard Watts started with being taught a song at nature camp. The song was "Know, Know, Know, Your Oaks, This Is How They Grow" sung to the tune of "Row, Row, Row, Your Boat." Watts wrote the song, with gestures to go with it, when she was the naturalist at the Morton Arboretum in Lisle, Illinois....
