DID YOU KNOW?

For the score of DRACULA, composer Danny Elfman cited composer and electronic musician Wendy Carlos as a major inspiration, particularly her late ’60s and early ’70s work. She is the composer responsible for the iconic THE SHINING and A CLOCKWORK ORANGE who is known for her use of synth. Danny Elfman also leaned heavily into digital synths for DRACULA, using modern technology to recreate the “grindy early-synth sound” he loves while still giving the score a “retro flavor.”

The iconic “Mamushka” dance scene in THE ADDAMS FAMILY was originally meant to be much longer and featured a full song about brotherly love—with Gomez and Fester name-dropping famous brothers throughout history. But test audiences found that it brought the movie to a standstill so the scene was trimmed down to the version we see in the film. The full song can be heard on the movie’s soundtrack and the extended scene entitled “More Mamushka” can be seen on the 2021 Blu-ray.
