After 13 years and 22 issues I am saying goodbye to Editorial Magazine! My heart is filled with gratitude and joy thinking of all our wonderful editors, contributors, sponsors, distributors, and especially our READERS! This project was so much fun and took me around the world to meet so many fellow artists and weirdos.

While I’m sad to see an “end of an era” I am thrilled to be moving onto full time painting, a growing obsession which has left little time for making magazines. Maybe one day that will change.

If you ever contributed artwork, allowed us to interview you, wrote an article, read an article, wore our merch, attended one of our parties, thank you and I love you!!

Tomasz Kowalski draws out familiar, yet intangible worlds through painting and works on paper. In these
images, objects and figures separate from their own meaning, becoming illusionistic and abstract. Kowalski
clarifies each aspect merely to the point that he sees fit. He constantly fractures perspective in an effort to
establish a bold imaginal universe, funneling his Polish roots into the matrix of inspiration.

Expanding on his fascination with religious and historic Italian paintings, Will Sheldon began this latest series in New York but felt compelled to complete the works in Italy, where he spent a month in solitude in the Umbrian mountains. These new works further his ongoing exploration of the amalgamation of classical iconography with subcultural elements.

Andrew Cranston’s “Thoughts from under the floorboards” features the artist’s daily practice of painting on hardback book covers. Each cover acts as a portal or window to multiple histories, here calling upon influences ranging from Edgar Allan Poe, Gustave Caillebotte’s ‘floor scrapers’, and the artist’s own memories. On view at til November 16 💗💗💗 .cranston

In a lengthy process that takes months to years, Oliver Bak conjures ghostly fauna and figures that seem to haunt his works. The artist evolves his surfaces as highly textured topographies: thick layers of wax and impasto areas are reworked multiple times.

Drawing from fiction and the real, mythology and life, and the tangible and the subconscious, he constructs enigmatic narratives by conflating different fragments of reality.

Nicholas Bierk’s exhibition “The Beauty and the Horror” presents a group of paintings based on photographs taken by the artist. The quotidian moments illustrated in Bierk’s paintings capture scenes of sun and moonlight illuminating quiet interior spaces and ethereal landscapes. Bierk’s subjects point to historical painting, but the underlying language of the digital snapshot anchors the work in this moment.

See the Beauty and the Horror in LA til November 2nd
