He was supposed to be in Philly the weekend I came back to New York, and yet somehow, there he was, lifting me off the ground to kiss me in front of the 34th & Herald subway station that Sunday after- noon. “I don’t know why I did that, I just got really excited to see you,” he said as I looked for change to buy a MetroCard for the L train to Bedford Avenue.
