Concern Over Land Ownership in Zambia
I wish to express my deep concern regarding the current land ownership policies in Zambia. It is troubling to witness increasing cases where land is being sold or allocated to foreign nationals, while many Zambians continue to struggle to access land for farming, housing, and development.
Land is one of our most precious national resources. It carries not only economic value but also cultural and historical significance. If not protected, future generations of Zambians may find themselves landless in their own country. We are already seeing signs of this as communities are displaced and vast portions of land are acquired by foreign interests.
We respectfully urge the government to review and revise the current land policies. Specifically, let's advocate for laws that restrict land ownership to Zambian citizens only or even a Zambian-Foreign kind of ownership. This is not about excluding others, but about protecting our heritage, empowering our people, and ensuring sustainable national development.
Zambia is our home, and its land must remain in the hands of Zambians.
