vía • Fat Joe is catching MAJOR backlash online after a clip from a recent podcast started circulating where he said he’s “the blackest person anyone’s ever seen in their lives” 😳😭

Joe has always been extremely vocal about growing up around Black culture, being heavily influenced by hip-hop, and spending basically his entire career surrounded by some of the biggest names in rap. But this comment has people debating whether he took it way too far. Some fans understood what he was trying to say, arguing that he was talking about his upbringing, experiences and how deeply connected he feels to the culture. Others immediately called the statement disrespectful and said there’s a HUGE difference between appreciating Black culture and actually claiming to be Black.

The internet is especially going crazy because Fat Joe is Puerto Rican, and people are arguing back and forth about race, ethnicity and what exactly he meant by the statement. Some are defending him because of everything he’s contributed to hip-hop over the last 30+ years, while others are saying no amount of history in the culture makes a comment like this make sense 😭

Either way, Joe definitely got everybody talking with this one. Y’all think people are taking his words too literally, or was Fat Joe completely out of pocket for saying this? 👀
