Side effect of the arctic cold is how dry the air gets. Runny noses, sore throats, dry skin, chapped lips just to name a few of the issues you may experience. Less known is the static electricity issue which could be fun to terrorize the unsuspecting family member but becomes a safety matter when stopping to fill up at the gas station.

Those signs telling you to discharge static build-up are there for this exact reason! While the temperatures improve going forward, it'll be a few days more before the dewpoints improve much.

HOW ARE YA DOING?! Happy Snowy Sunday morning December 14, 2025. Just some of our WeatherEye cameras here before 8am. Conditions vary widely. Please check your route for road conditions. Interstates are “passable” but that can still mean pockets of ice and snow on the road surface. We’re done with this round of clipper systems… now it’s about the cold! LATEST DATA - As of 12:55 pm Saturday the data continues to show the heavier snow in the northern counties of the viewing area. This is the National Blend of Models for snow output along with our Predictor for timing and placement ideas. Snow lingers in the north until late night then swoops down to the south. That limits the amount of snow south. Behind this snow is VERY COLD ARCTIC AIR. So - shovels likely needed north - not so much south BUT don't look for much melting at all so even where you just have a light accumulations, it can still be slippery on the secondary roads Sunday. LATEST MODEL info for snowfall Saturday night / Sunday morning. This is the National Blend of Models - which seeks to reduce outlier errors on models. A small shift can obviously bump or decrease totals but either way the snow starts Saturday afternoon for some and slides across the area overnight. The slickest roads will be seen overnight and very early Sunday. Ok....so.... We're going to be awkward for a second. About these winter storm watches Saturday....😬

Winter Storm Watch simply mean a snow event is possible but confidence isn't strong just yet. As things fall in place, these watches may be upgraded to a Winter Storm Warning or Winter Weather Advisory by the National Weather Service. Expect changes to the forecast until then but use this time to plan.

Well...that 'de-escalated' quickly....

Still, enough of a mess for the morning drive to use a little extra caution but with sunlight upon us and our system scooting east, we'll see improvements as ground temps warm up by late morning. Snow showers continue favoring the southern coalfields until then.

We'll quiet down into the late afternoon but watch the refreeze after sunset. Overnight lows in the 20s brings the threat of black ice for your evening and overnight plans.

Overnight update with some good news. Snow totals are expected to be lower for Friday with our clipper sliding farther south than expected.

What Hasn't Changed:
We'll still see snow covered roads as ground temps are cold enough.
Timing is still for the morning commute.
We'll still have late morning mixing/ice.

100 miles is all it took to go from "Whoa!" to "Meh" Still, Winter Weather Advisories remain in effect for Friday morning. Winter Storm Watches in effect for Saturday/Sunday. Expect updates later today on those. www.wowktv.com/weather
