To that end, Tony-winning costume designer Cliff Ramos designed some 50-plus pieces for Hudson alone — whose towering 5-foot-10 height can make it difficult to outfit her in the smaller scale of most vintage — including a custom pale-pink gown so encrusted with pearls, which weighed in at nearly 70 pounds.”

Kelly talks about self care, fitness and the reality of raising a young black boy in America. “She also devotes a moment each morning to deep breathing—an act of self-care she’s added since the evening when grief over the police killings of George Floyd and Breonna Taylor overwhelmed her. “I’d just put Titan to bed,” she says. “I got into the shower, and I had this real hard, ugly, deep cry. Because I promised to protect my kid. That was the main thing I was thinking about: protecting this little innocence.”

Stylist recently had an interview with and she explained her monochromatic aesthetic 💕
“What inspires me most often is real people, and particularly the Black experience; and that’s exactly where this idea of monochromatic dressing comes from. It reminds me of women attending southern Baptist churches wearing their Sunday best; which often means matching your dress to your hat, gloves and shoes. This cross-cultural experience, and the symbolism behind it, is really important to me.”

We are such on such a high from ’s Black is King film 👑!
This production has truly inspired us all! Shout out to Fly Girl who truly breaks barriers constantly and is always outdoing herself! As stylist she truly shows how much styling is an art form and the great levels you can go with it! The entire team killed it! If they can do it we can too! Pray, hustle, have faith AND REPEAT! Stay encouraged!
