John Bonham was an English drummer and a member of Led Zeppelin. He played an important role in hard rock, blues-rock, and folk-rock, contributing to the band’s musical sound and performances.
Bonham began his professional career in local English bands before joining Led Zeppelin in 1968. He performed on all the band’s studio albums and live recordings. Key tracks featuring his drumming include “Moby Dick,” “Whole Lotta Love,” and “Kashmir.” His technique combined precision, power, and complex rhythms, making him a defining figure in rock drumming.
Throughout his career, Bonham worked with Led Zeppelin and their record label, Atlantic Records. He used extended drum solos and inventive rhythms, influencing many drummers in rock and blues-rock.
John Bonham passed away on 25 September 1980. His contributions remain highly respected, and his recordings are widely studied by musicians and students of the instrument.
