HOW TO SUBMIT:

The Bradford Literary Agency only accepts submissions via QueryManager. To query us, please visit: https://bradfordlit.com/submission-guidelines

For Fiction you will need:
A query letter along with the first chapter of your manuscript and a synopsis. For Non-fiction you will need:
A full non-fiction proposal including a query letter and a sample chapter. Illustrators & Picture Books will need:
A short query along with the entire manuscript. Feel free to send 2-3 picture book submissions at one time (within the body of one submission). Artwork is not required to submit a picture book text, but if you are an illustrator and/or are seeking representation for artwork, please include a link to your online portfolio and a link to the online dummy. It is our goal to respond to every query we receive. Our approximate response time for queries is 2 to 6 weeks. If you have not received a response within 6 weeks, please nudge or resend your query with a note that you are sending it again. We look forward to considering your work!

Maddie Sandell is an active SCBWI member and a former artist in the animation industry, most recently working on TV adaptations of Captain Underpants and Where’s Waldo for DreamWorks Animation. She has also directed several animated projects, including Mattel’s Monster High: Meet the Ghouls and National Geographic’s, The Greeks. When Maddie isn’t chasing her two little ones, she enjoys spending time dreaming up new concepts to write and illustrate.

YoungJu is available as: an or author-illustrator

YoungJu Kim brings eight years of experience as a freelance artist at Gelsinger Licensing Group, where artworks appear in stores such as Target, Walmart, and DaySpring. After earning her MFA in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design, she spent four years at Reedsy as a children’s book illustrator and designer. YoungJu has illustrated several works, including Grandma’s Library (Mountain Arbor Press) and Map of Memory Lane. She is thrilled and ready to embark on her journey as a debut author-illustrator.

Throughout her career, YoungJu has received many honors, including the Young Blood Illustration Award, the Low Country Artist Award, and the Merit Award from the 3x3 Children’s Book Show Annual. When not creating books, she enjoys hiking with her husband and son, reading, cooking, and of course, daydreaming.

Danielle Kinley (DK) Ryland is an author-illustrator of silly and heartfelt books. Her debut author-illustrated picture book, GIRAFFE IS TOO TALL FOR THIS BOOK was selected for Target’s Book Club November 2023 and the sequel, GIRAFFE’S BOOK IS MISSING A STORY, released in spring 2025! DK’s HAVE YOU SEEN MY ACORN? came out with Flamingo in fall 2024 and THE DANGEROUS ALPHABET BOOK with Astra books is slated to come out fall 2025. She is a 2020 Picture Book Party finalist and a 2019 Picture Book Chat mentee of Cori Doerrfeld’s. Before she started writing and illustrating, DK filmed wildlife in Africa, was a professional softball player, traveled at every moment possible, and was a teacher and coach. When not writing and illustrating, you can find DK going on adventures with her husband and kids, playing sports, or reading a good book - while petting a cat or dog.

Lisa’s debut picture book, The Dreams We Made, released last year with Paula Wiseman Books, and her next book with Paula Wiseman books, I AM NOT YOUR HAT! just came out in 2025. Lisa’s lifelong passion for reading and drawing began at an early age, and she’s been wielding a pencil ever since. She is also the proud mother of two mini-humans, whom she loves spending time with. When she’s not creating art or new stories, Lisa indulges in tea-sipping and cake-eating, although she absolutely despises pairing socks, fishy fish and slugs that invade her humble abode. She currently resides in Derby UK, where she’s constantly on the lookout for new artistic inspiration and good cake shops.

Roger illustrates and co-writes fanciful, adventurous picture books with his partner, Sara Carbone. He illustrated works for McGraw-Hill (the Spanish language book Mi Gato Paco) and Scholastic (Storyworks magazine) and was a daily strip cartoonist for the Roswell Daily Record for nine years. Holding a BFA from the Fashion Institute of Technology, Roger was a full-time graphic designer for IBM and several advertising agencies. He has been steeped in Hungarian culture all his life, and his work is influenced by everything from Hungarian folk tales and Saturday morning cartoons to the latest from the Society of Illustrators. Roger keeps his inner child alive by playing board games and listening to the amazing ramblings of young children. When not illustrating, he creates quirky sculptures, tinkers on his classic British roadster, and explores exciting new places by bicycle.

Meaghan is a MG/YA author as well as a picture book illustrator and graphic novelist. Her MG fantasy The Bear House was a 2023 Forest of Reading Red Maple Nominee and was selected for the 2023 TD Summer Reading List. The sequel, Scales & Stardust was selected for the Canadian Children’s Book Centre Best Books Spring 2023. She enjoys drawing and writing stories with funny, expressive characters and anything that sparkles.

Sheree Tomba is an active member of 12x12 and the Illustration Department. Sheree’s storytelling has been greatly influenced by her degree in Theater from NYU. As a proud member of the LGBTQ+ community, Heather loves to portray diverse characters and gets especially excited for any story that reveals the world from a new or different perspective. This is portrayed in the art in her picture book KATIE FINDS HER VOICE: A STORY ABOUT AUTISM by Amy McCoy, SIMPLY SKYE by Pamela Morgan, and MAC AND CHEESE AND THE PERSONAL SPACE INVADER by Jolene Gutierrez. Heather whole-heartedly believes that hidden within our everyday lives is a secret realm glimpsed through books, music, and children’s laughter. Holding a BFA in Painting from the Kansas City Art Institute, she is a member of SCBWI, and a Children’s Book Academy graduate, and a mommy. When not illustrating and writing, she searches out story ideas with her little ninja.

Hannah Lorenzo is an author-illustrator who combines digital illustration with traditional media, such as gouache and watercolor. She likes making art that plays with texture (especially collage). CT is a writer and illustrator living in Southern California. She has worked on several projects in the animation industry, including Nickelodeon’s newest iteration of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles.
