An inspiration to us all 💙💛
Taevion Norris, an 18-year-old diagnosed with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy, recently celebrated his high school graduation from Lurie Children’s Hospital in Chicago while awaiting a heart transplant. Norris, who was diagnosed with the progressive muscle-wasting disease at 12 years old, missed his official high school ceremony due to heart failure. Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy frequently leads to cardiac complications, including dilated cardiomyopathy and heart failure, which is a primary cause of mortality in affected individuals. Hospital staff organized a special graduation ceremony for Norris on May 21, where he received his diploma from West Leyden High School. He was placed on the heart transplant list on May 1 and remains at the hospital.
