Arkell Pavilion lawn, outdoors

For 25 years and counting, Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem has been uplifting audiences with a deeply-brewed blend of wit, camaraderie, and musicality. Their sound is “tight, with stylish, unexpected choices” (Acoustic Guitar), mixing New Orleans grooves, rafter-shaking harmonies, fiddle, electric and acoustic guitar, and junk percussion on incisive original songs and wild card covers.

“Rani Arbo & daisy mayhem dig deep into their collective souls, finding joy in the moment, peace in the harmonies, and rapture in the rhythmic drive.” —The Hartford Courant

The Southwestern Vermont Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for the 30th Anniversary of Southern Vermont’s most flavorful festival!

Personally, I don’t think there’s anything better than the smell and taste of garlic. In my kitchen, garlic goes in almost everything, and there is never, ever “too much” of it. If you head to downtown Bennington on August 30 between 10am and 5pm, you’ll smell the unmistakable aroma of garlic in every imaginable form— sautéed, roasted, fried, pickled, braided, baked, and perhaps even blended into ice cream. That’s when you know you’ve officially arrived in Garlic Town USA.

We’re thrilled to announce that Vermont-based musician, writer, and recovery advocate, Benjamin Lerner will be making his Berkshire stage debut just across the Southern Vermont border. His powerful new one-man concert—PERFORMER—will debut at Barrington Stage Company in Pittsfield, MA on September 3, 2025.

The one-night-only performance combines elements of Hip-Hop, classical piano, spoken word, and melodic standards, Lerner will share his journey through addiction and recovery with emotional depth and dynamic musicality. All proceeds from the event will support three nonprofit organizations that foster creativity and recovery: BSC’s Musical Theatre Lab, Living in Recovery, and the George B. Crane Memorial Center—each of which is committed to community transformation on a deep level.

Whether you’re a full-time local or a visiting vacationer, this is a show that is well worth the drive.

Our SUMMER Issue is now online at StrattonMagazine.com!

The theme of this issue is... GROWTH!

How exciting to see Stratton Mountain Resort expand its Mountain Biking paths, new Summer Camps popping up in our community, Southern Vermont Arts Center building out its digital archives, and Southwestern Vermont Medical Center expanding its local services.

In this issue, we also celebrate those who have helped build our community. We celebrate Tammy Mosher, who is retiring as Executive Director of Stratton Community Foundation; Hubert Schriebl’s 60 years of photography; the 30th Anniversary of Garlic Town USA; and so much more!

We’ve also included a comprehensive look at the best places to swim (indoor and out) in our region, 2024’s photo contest winner, and an inside look at this summer’s music festivals and offerings.

Wishing you all a happy and healthy summer of growth!
