The purpose of Beethoven Club is to foster & promote the art of music & musical interests; create a desire for music among members & community; assist visiting musicians; encourage interest in serious music among young people.

Our December meeting is fast approaching. The date is Thursday, December 4, at 10 AM at First Presbyterian Church, 5th St. S.E.

We will have program notes on "The Moods of Christmas," and performances on organ, flute/piano, string quartet, and cello accompanied by 3 strings and bassoon. It will be a festive program!

As is our tradition, we will follow with refreshments in the church gathering hall.

If you would be willing to provide treats, savory or sweet, please contact Bonnie Dodge with your offering. Everything is much appreciated. We will provide punch and coffee.

On Friday, September 12 at 7 pm at FaithLife Lutheran Church, formerly St. Mark's, Daniel Ficarri will give an organ concert. You may recognize his name as the composer of the Prelude & Fugue on Thaxted written last year in celebration of Beethoven Club's Barb Ritchie's 40 years as organist at FaithLife. We are thrilled to announce the return of Nutcracker in Fall 2025, and we are starting auditions for our tenured dancers starting next week! 💜🩰

Prior to attending the audition, dancers must fill out an electronic audition form.

The Nutcracker 2025 Audition Information was emailed out recently. This email includes the link to the audition form, and we encourage any family with an interested dancer to review it for audition, rehearsal, and performance details. Cedar Rapids Beethoven Club, founded in 1921, annually offers one $1,000 Kay Gustafson Piano Award. This award is for a promising, committed piano student who has studied piano for at least one year and has a financial need.

Please nominate one student entering 8th, 9th, 10th or 11th grade in the 2025-2026 school year who would like to improve via private lessons. Ask the student and parent to fill out their application (link below) to submit with your recommendation.

The Beethoven Club Scholarship Committee will gather recommendations and choose a single recipient from all applicants. DUE SAT. AUG. 9th!

The award will be sent to the teacher for lesson fees, and the student will be asked to play briefly for representatives of Beethoven Club after the year of lessons are completed.
