It may be hard to make gingerbread cookies on a boat, but how about this gingerbread pan man?

http://bwsailing.com/cc/2012/12/05/for-the-hungry-crew-15/

While gingerbread men are traditional at Christmas, they can be really hard to make on a boat — it’s hard to roll out the dough and cut the men, and it can take forever to bake them if you can only fit 4 or 5 men on the small cookie sheet that will fit inside your boat oven.

Interested in long distance crusing? Learn from Jimmy Cornell at the Annapolis Boat Show.

Are you seriously interested in long-distance voyaging? Last week, Kathy Parsons sent me a note about this all-day seminar with Jimmy Cornell at the Annapolis Show.

I've always loved his books and I'm told that this seminar is fantastic -- price includes admission to the show, the course book, lunch with Jimmy and 6 hours of class time!

In case you missed my previous post, I wanted to mention it again. You can get all the details and sign up at: http://www.cornellsailing.com/jimmy-cornell-seminars-talks/

Renee Petrillo packed up her home and husband, bought a boat and went cruising, despite having almost no experience in matters nautical. A sail of Two Idiots tells the story in an entertaining and engaging manner, while at the same time enumerating the mistakes made and the lessons learned in the hopes of helping a similar-minded person avoiding some of the pitfalls. I am sure it would be helpful to that target audience, but it is also a delightful read for anyone who likes cruising yarns, and what a refreshing change to read about sailing cruise where the woman in the skipper. -- Chris Doyle

A true story of disaster and survival in a force 12 storm

http://www.sail-world.com/CruisingAus/Book-of-the-Week:-Rescue-in-the-Pacific-by-Tony-Farrington/100893

A must read for anyone considering blue water cruising. This story is a real page turner. In 1994 a massive, hurricane strength storm hit the South Pacific, which lasted for nearly four days. This storm is known as 'Queen's Birthday' and 'Pacific Fastnet', and hit an area north of New Zealand, wher...
