The ‘Come From Away’ musical that launched last night at Toowoomba’s Empire Theatre, is a work of compelling & uplifting story telling.

Based on a true event that brought out the best in a small community as well as the few thousand ‘plane people’ aka ‘Come From Aways’ who were unexpectedly forced to land there.

This well crafted musical featuring a brilliantly talented cast of locals unleashes laughter & tears before sending you home with some wind beneath your wings.

Good to know: Australian director David Wynen returned from his current home in New York for this production.

Top tip: try the Loose Moose cocktail created with a perfectly apt banana whiskey and spiced star anise syrup!

The season runs until March 23.

‘My Soil Farsh’ is an installation by who has Iranian heritage, as part of the Volatile Terrain exhibition at gallery in Toogoooawah until April 27.

The work involved a group of women in ritual collecting soil then grinding and sieving to create the soil Persian carpet, imprinted with traditional motifs.

In the early days of the exhibition, a cricket flew in and took a stroll adding his own detail to the work (look closely at the final image).

The Condensery is at 29 Factory Rd and open 10am-4pm Wed-Sun.
