The Science Snippet of the programme last week (Nov 20) was about anaphylaxis (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anaphylaxis). Anaphylaxis is a serious, potentially fatal allergic reaction which is a medical emergency. Symptoms can include: rash, airway swelling, vomiting, low blood pressure, and loss of consciousness. Common triggers include some foods, insect stings or bites, medications, and latex. Primary treatment is injection of adrenaline and intravenous fluids.
