Design Incubation Design Incubation is a resource for communication design research, education, and practice. In 2016, the Communication Design Educators Awards were established.

Design Incubation, founded in 2014, is a venue for educators and practitioners of Communication Design to discuss their design research and practice. Our aim is to create a community in which designers can assess creative work through a lens of scholarly activity and academic review. We began with a public colloquia series, a list of attendees, and an archive of abstracts of presentations. In 2015

, the Fellowship Program at Design Incubation was introduced to facilitate and develop academic writing and investigate publishing opportunities. Three (3) awards— for excellence in Scholarly, Teaching and Service in the field were established. We seek to foster collaboration, promote development, encourage discourse, cultivate theoretical frameworks, challenge notions, offer criticism, and review processes within the design community. We include designers across experience levels and backgrounds— practicing designers, graduate students, adjunct and tenure-track faculty through to distinguished professors.
