Maybe there is still hope for this place? Let's give it a go. JAS is still alive and well in other plains of emotional reality, although absent here. Last month, I was away and the responsibility lied with Mihnea Pruna. When he's not hard at work building his own Soundsystem from the ground up, he's digging deep into the theories of percussion and bass. Listen back right here.

A year ago I put together some words and music for The Attic in the form of A Study on Percussion, indulging my obsession.

Now, with more time on my hands than I would've liked I'm tuning my obsession and critical thinking towards strings and hoping to trace some simple thoughts through a one hour mix and a few words of mine to back it up.

'Drawing on the parallel between human physiognomy and musical instrumentation, I could argue, if percussion is the rhythmical backbone of any composition then strings are most resembling the rib cage. The similarities are not only aesthetic, but also sonic, in the way it propagates resonance and vibration around the heart.'

I hope this makes some sense to you!

I’ve been trying for a whole to organise a little dance with .rippin crew from Iasi, a beautiful city in the motherland but as circumstances have it we will have to do it digitally for now. Live from 4pm UK time and 6pm RO time on their insta and other social channels with a selection of music to really feel in this time of isolation, I only pulled non-electronic vibrations from the shelf as I find myself more often than not yearning for vocals and cold instruments. My adventure into Video Games OSTs from last Sunday’s JAS is now online in its natural habitat. This is my second mix in the two part series I started in 2018 and it’s probably been the most I’ve ever worked on a radio show, going through hours and hours of music from some of my favourite games and some I never had a chance to try. This Sunday I’m airing another JAS from isolation. Part 2 of my Video Games special I did back in 2018 will be live from 2-4pm on mighty Radio as always. This is something I have been working for the past 4 months, digging through tens of video games on multiple platforms, trying to hunt them down on ebay, hoping the CDs will come with HQ soundtracks, sometimes ripping straight from the video-games themselves. 2 hours of what I hope will be an unknown world of sound for some of you and an emotional recollection for others. This one, unlike part 1, will feature mostly older games soundtracks from as far back as the original Nintendo and the Playstation 1. I find the world of video games OST to be extremely abundant in originality and experimentation, mainly because it was often overlooked so musicians had complete creative control and almost zero guidance from the developers. So tune in this Sunday 2-4 and we can all dive into the more serene digital world where we can be as close as James Woods and Debbie Harry’s digital lips in Cronenberg’s Videodrome 🕹🎮

A whole new month, season and star sign is upon us which means we are also welcoming a new JAS. This Sunday I am back on but not in physical form for I am now only a spirit outside of my 🏠 . And in spirit I am also joined by beautiful soul 4142 aka for two hours of social distancing and emotional approach. From 2pm as usual on the airwaves and after that in eternity on my soundcloud. Also a new template for the visual side of JAS emerges from my better half Cristi Iacob.
