I am ECSTATIC to announce our newest rehab, and member of our flock- a 15 year old female toco toucan. much like Toupac, she too suffers from severe mobility issues. as excited as I am to finally have another toco as part of our family, she also very much needs our help. due to her issues with mobility, her hocks (the backwards joint at the ankle) have suffered major damage that need immediate medical attention. to help this girl, I have started a campaign to raise money to get her the medical attention she deserves. right now, she is unable to fly or walk/hop normally. but I am hopeful with some medical attention and TLC that she will be able to recover to some extent. X-ray can help us determine what exactly has caused her issues... and it's quite possible she will need medication and assisted living for the rest of her life. it may very well be age related issues such as arthritis causing it and ultimately leading to the condition on her legs. but there's also a possibility she could recover and live once again as a normal toucan. please join me in helping this beautiful girl regain her movement once more!
