CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A man unaffiliated with UNC was arrested after students said he harassed them and yelled racial slurs during a campus event hosted by Black student organizations, prompting renewed concerns about safety and building access.

Campus police identified the man as Keegan Wilson, 45, who entered Greenlaw Hall on Monday night and disrupted a student watch party. Students told officers Wilson threw objects, sprayed an unknown substance, and shouted slurs at Black UNC students before reaching toward his waist, causing several to hide under desks fearing he had a weapon.

Police detained Wilson outside the building within minutes. Officials said he was taken to a hospital for evaluation and will face charges including disorderly conduct, vandalism, damage to property and aggravated assault once medically cleared. UNC said Wilson will also be banned from campus.

Student leaders said the incident left many shaken and raised questions about campus security protocols. They described the event as a safe space for Black students that was directly targeted.

Wilson remains in custody as the investigation continues.

MARKHAM, Ill. — Tyler Perry is stepping in to help an 81‑year‑old Illinois homeowner facing an $`18,000 tax lien after months of battling her insurer over flood damage that left her displaced and unable to return home.

Perry learned about Brenda Daurham’s situation after FOX 32 Chicago reported that a burst pipe flooded her Markham home and Allstate later denied her claim, leaving her with a lien from the restoration company.

Perry paid the `$18K lien, removing the biggest obstacle preventing Daurham from returning home, and publicly called out Allstate for failing to help the longtime policyholder.

Daurham, who has lived in her home for more than 40 years, said she is grateful for Perry’s support as community groups also rally around her with furniture, supplies and additional assistance.

Her insurance dispute remains unresolved, and her family says they still want answers about why the claim was denied.

On September 6, 2018, 26‑year‑old accountant Botham Jean was shot and killed in his own Dallas apartment by off‑duty officer Amber Guyger, who entered his home and opened fire.

Jean, a beloved PricewaterhouseCoopers associate and choir singer from St. Lucia, was known for his faith, leadership, and warmth. His death sparked protests and accusations of racial bias because he was an unarmed Black man killed in his own home by a white officer.

Guyger said she mistook his unit for hers and believed Jean was a burglar. Guyger was initially charged with manslaughter before a grand jury indicted her for murder. She was convicted in 2019 and sentenced to ten years in prison. Her conviction was upheld twice on appeal, and she was denied parole in 2024.

Eight years later, Botham Jean is remembered for the life he lived — not the way it was taken.

Atlanta — Big Tigger will not face prosecution after the Fulton County District Attorney’s Office declined to move forward with charges tied to a May domestic dispute involving his estranged wife, Alicia Brown.

Court records show prosecutors chose not to pursue aggravated battery and child‑cruelty charges stemming from the incident at the couple’s Sandy Springs home.

Brown had accused Tigger, real name Darian Morgan, of injuring her during an argument, saying the confrontation left her with a cut requiring stitches.

Tigger has denied the allegations, telling TMZ he “unequivocally” rejects every claim and trusts the legal process.

With the DA’s decision, the criminal case is now closed.

MARTINSBURG, W.Va. — Bettina Johnson, a 42‑year‑old Mississippi woman who traveled to Martinsburg, West Virginia, is now missing, sparking an urgent search and a public plea from her family to help bring her home.

According to a public appeal reported by the Times-Virginian, Johnson was visiting Martinsburg when communication with her family abruptly stopped. She was last seen the morning of Sunday, August 23 wearing all black near the Royal Farms location on Grapevine Road.

Relatives said she had been walking in the area before disappearing.

Johnson is 5ft8in, approximately 170lbs with Black hair last seen wearing Black shirt and shorts.

BALTIMORE — A Baltimore mother is demanding answers after her 20‑year‑old son was wrongly detained at gunpoint by Baltimore County Police, who later admitted they arrested the wrong person during a multi‑agency warrant operation.

The arrest, caught on camera in East Baltimore, shows officers surrounding the young man, handcuffing him, and placing him in a cruiser as his mother, Deneen Jordan, pleaded with police to check his identity. In the video, Jordan tells officers they have “the wrong son” and insists her child “has never been in trouble.”

Baltimore County Police said detectives assisting the U.S. Postal Inspection Service misidentified the 20‑year‑old while serving a felony arrest warrant tied to mailbox thefts. The suspect they were seeking had the same name. Once officers realized the mistake, the department said the young man was released without charges.

Jordan said officers pointed rifles at her son and took him away despite her repeated pleas. Bystanders questioned why police escalated the encounter, noting the man was compliant and unarmed. The video has since gained widespread attention online, drawing concern from civil rights advocates.

Baltimore County Police say an administrative review is underway. Jordan says that is not enough and is calling for full accountability, transparency, and an explanation for how her son was misidentified and detained at gunpoint.
