Techonomy’s name embodies our beliefs and our mission—it combines the words “technology” and “economy” because technology is a central part of the economy in which we operate and the society in which we live. We see technology as inextricably entwined with just about every activity that humans undertake, and seek as a company to help the world, and especially business leaders, take advantage of it

. Techonomy casts its lens broadly across technology, business and society. We believe that all leaders should, in effect, become technologists. We seek conversation at the highest level about the potential for technology and business to drive social progress. We host conferences and create content to explore the pace of change, and what it means. For more information, please visit http://techonomy.com, or our other social platforms.

What a day! 🙌 A huge thank you to everyone who joined us in New York City for Techonomy 25 at Civic Hall — it was a vibrant day full of urgency, possibility, and real discussion around how humans and machines are evolving together.

We convened a remarkable roster of speakers and attendees focused on one central question: How do we keep things human as machine autonomy advances?

You may recall our agenda ran from early morning through the afternoon across ~20 sessions—featuring voices such as Pablos Holman, Douglas Rushkoff, Andrew Yang, Manoush Zomorodi, Vivek Shah, Amba Kak, Jonathan Yunger, Julie Samuels, Alison Moore, Bobbi Wegner, Tami Rosen, Sumit Nagpal, Brian Stellmach, Ntiedo Etuk, Adam Lewis and more.

Together, we explored:
• “Deep tech” innovation in energy, climate, health.
• AI governance and trust frameworks.
• The future of work and hybrid humans-plus-machines.
• How creativity, media, and IP evolve in a smart environment.
• Breakthroughs in drug discovery and human-centered systems.
• The role of cities and organizations designing for a future where human judgment still matters.

We’re now processing all session recordings. Stay tuned. The ideas we sparked on Nov. 18 aren’t ending—they’re just beginning.

Following a day full of urgency, possibility, and real discussion around how humans and machines are evolving together, attendees got to punctuate the day by hitting the Webster Hall dance floor with Wyclef Jean (literally).

It illustrated beautifully that human agency isn’t just a panel topic—it thrives in spontaneity, shared energy, and presence.

After months of planning, cajoling speakers, and sketching out every detail of the event space, Techonomy 25 is finally here.

This year’s theme—Human Agency Meets Machine Autonomy—is one of those phrases that looks crisp on a banner but reveals more layers the longer you sit with it. The real question is: What do humans uniquely bring to the table now, and how do we design a world where that still matters?

That’s the throughline of the day, and every speaker pushes on it from a different angle.
• Pablos Holman: A Shot of Unfiltered Innovation
• Julie Samuels: Cities as Experimental Labs for AI
• Alison Moore: Leadership When the Team Is Human + Machine
• Adam Lewis: The New Pipeline From Molecule to Medicine
• Manoush Zomorodi: Staying Human in Smart Environments
• Andrew Yang: Incentives, Accountability, and the Systems We Build
• Douglas Rushkoff: The Cultural Reckoning We Can’t Ignore
• Wyclef Jean: Creativity as a Form of Agency

afternoon panels taught us just how connected every industry is to climate change, and how different companies tackle environmental advocacy.

Daniela Fernandez of VELAMAR joined Jim McCann of Worth Media Group & 1-800Flowers to explore how capital can drive ocean solutions. “Movement changes culture, and capital changes systems,” said Fernandez, highlighting the need to align mainstream investment with ocean health.

Caitlin MacLean of the Milken Institute and Francis Bouchard of Marsh McLennan highlighted that resilience will require cross-sector collaboration, investment, and new financial tools. “There’s a growing awareness, not just within the insurance sector, but all the peripheral sectors and also the NGO community, that insurance has to be part of the answer” , emphasized Bouchard.

Sara Enright of Consumer Reports and Emily Forlini of PCMag explored the role of consumers in driving energy standards. “We did a survey to find out: do people support mandatory energy efficiency standards for their appliances? And 88% of Americans responded yes. And yet these standards are still under attack,” noted Enright.

Kim Wilson of McLaren Racing and Anna Marsden of Great Barrier Reef Foundation shared how Formula 1 innovation is being harnessed to create machines to help recover and repopulate coral reefs. “We’ll be proving that we can plant, out of one of these micro-hubs, a million corals. That’s the acceleration point that’s happened because of McLaren,” said Marsden.
