2025 Emerging Screenwriters Thriller Screenplay Competition released its list of Quarter-Finalists and the script “Not Now!!” by Leon Mintz hit the list.

The logline for Not Now!! is:
After discovering a friend brutally murdered, a young lady must decipher a cryptic message to save herself, but the only real lead comes from an obscure poem.

The list of Semi-Finalists is scheduled to be released in the 2nd week of July.

Erie Harbor will keep the public informed of further awards as they come in.

NEWS FROM BEYOND…

Recently, BlueCat has announced the quarterfinalists for it 2025 screenwriting contest.

1,862 submissions were made, and 158 features reached the quarterfinals. Out of these 158 screenplays, two of them were submitted by Leon Mintz.

Hopefully, on March 11th, Erie Harbor will be announcing that these two screenplays (Not Now!! - and – The Scrapper) have reached the semifinals!!!!

Though the pack remains thick, the three scripts submitted by Leon Mintz have made the first cut.

Some of the judges for the contest are: Michael Mann (Heat, Collateral, etc.), Paul Schrader (Taxi Driver, Raging Bull, etc.) and Dede Gardner (12 Years a Slave, The Tree of Life, etc.)

The Rap (takes place in Metro Detroit area)
Bound by childhood friendship and a need for true justice, three young adults struggle to discover the lurking evil that has robbed each of them of a parent.

The Scrapper (takes place in Mid-Michigan)
Stripped of his dreams and honor, a young man must figure out who double-crossed him before he loses something even more precious - his life.
