e Timewarp Music family are spread all around the world, while some of them have been introduced in the discography, others have international careers with some of their tracks to be a 'must' for every freestyler that respects himself. With an impressive artist roster that counts more than 50 main artists and 200 hundred remixers to date. The past 14 years, since 2004 up to now, Timewarp Music has released more than 10 CD’s, one 7” vinyl. Apart from the physical product Timewarp Music was one of the first independent record label that believed and invested in digital discography... and was prooved right, through the impressive digital catalogue, that and counts more than 180 digital releases and more than 1500 tracks, many times featured in the top charts in Funk, Downtempo, Disco, Breaks, House & Electronica Charts in the biggest digital retail music stores and streaming services across the world, like I-Tunes, Beatport, Junodownload, Spotify, E-music, Traxsource and so on. While their music has been played in countless places across the globe and in radio stations like KRCW, BBC and many more. In 2009 the sub-label Kraak Records was founded to fill the gap in the genres and music styles to support all possible forms of electronic music. To date it counts three physical CD releases, more than 110 digital releases with 800 plus tracks, 20 main artists and about 50 remixers. If you haven’t had a clear picture from all the above up to now, then for sure you must have picked up some tune of Timewarp Music, as many time is involved in sound design and music licensing for major advertising campaigns and motion pictures and games. If you've got any love at all for contemporary funk and breaks then Greek label Timewarp Music really shouldn't need any introduction by now - this is the 10th volume in the 'Freestyle 4 Funk' series after all! As with previous instalments it's quite a wide-ranging affair, opening with the Balearic-leaning 'Lunatics Galore' from Niles Phillips, then moving on through Timewarp Inc's 'Disco Lady'-ish 'Sync Or Swim', DJ Marcon & The Palo Santos' Afro-flavoured 'Idu Idu Dama', Devildrums & DJ Wah's rapped/spoken 'Midnight Hustle' (feat 72 Soul), Megawet's squelchy, 60s spy movie-esque 'The Intruder' and beyond, with highlights including the wigged-out disco-lounge of Timewarp's 'Round Melodies' and Philips' remarkable 'No Easy Way Out', which marries a female vocal from the Amy/Adele school of thought to dystopian rave synths.

Three months after the release of Egyptian producer DJ Wah and Italian percussionist Devidrums' first collaborative set, Deep Fall, we're treated to two new takes on EP highlights. The men behind the record step up first to deliver a fresh rework of 'Midnight Hustle'. While the original is a languid, warming, bass-heavy shuffler underpinned by downtempo breaks, this new interpretation re-frames it as a lightly funky slab of mid-temop dub disco excellence. Pal Ian Ash reworks 'Lost In Ibiza', turning what was a string-laden slab of break-powered mid-tempo excellence into a squelchy synth-bass-powered roll through jazz-funk/nu-disco fusion.

Timewarp Music has been Belgian producer Zamali's most regular port of call since releasing his debut EP 'At The Speed Of Delight' back in 2011, so the Greek label makes a fitting home for his third album. 'Mirrors' is sitting on our Funk pages but is a little more eclectic than such a description really conveys, drawing on a range of influences from jazz to reggae to soul. Standouts to these ears include the Hammond-fuelled 'Strange Areas', the loose-limbed 'Mollusques' (think tropical disco meets jazz-funk) and the cinematic, meandering jazz-isms of 'Cloud 69' but it's all good, making for a 51-minute musical experience you'll doubtless return to over and over again.
