On July 11, 2025, the Kalookan Diocese Schools Association (KADSA) gathered students, teachers, and non-teaching personnel from its member schools for a meaningful event designed to foster unity and set a hopeful tone for the academic year 2025–2026. The Mass of the Holy Spirit was celebrated at San Roque Cathedral, presided over by His Eminence, Cardinal Pablo Virgilio David, along with the clergy of Kalookan.

This annual Holy Spirit Mass is a cherished tradition that marks the start of each school year. It serves to bring the entire school community together in a spirit of prayer and gratitude, seeking blessings for the minds and hearts of students, teachers, and administrators as they embark on a new chapter of learning.

The event began with a warm welcome to all KADSA member schools, followed by the entrance procession of school chaplains from each Catholic institution. A special acknowledgment was given to Cardinal David, President of KADSA. An entrance hymn accompanied this solemn moment, made even more meaningful by its coincidence with the ongoing celebration of the Church’s Jubilee Year.

In his homily, Cardinal shared a heartfelt gospel to inaugurate this school year tells us how the risen Christ appeared to his disciple who were hiding behind lockdoors, filled with fear and uncertainty as they thought God is a ghost. In the midst of their worries, Jesus stood among them and said, “Peace be with you.” a reminder to us that even we face fear and uncertainty as we begin new school year, that we are not alone, Jesus comes to bring peace to our hearts and to strengthen us through the Holy Spirit, helping us face challenges with hope, faith, and courage.

As the Mass ended, students from various schools exchanged symbolic gifts as their offering. This gesture reflected the spirit of unity and community that KADSA upholds—as one Catholic school family united in faith, learning, and service.

The KADSA Holy Spirit Mass is more than a ceremonial opening of the school year—it is a spiritual awakening, a call to begin our journey in education, service, and discipleship under the guidance of the Holy Spirit. May this divine presence inspire us all to live with love, serve with compassion, and learn with purpose throughout the academic year ahead.

"𝐊𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐢𝐬𝐦𝐨: 𝐌𝐚𝐥𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐧 𝐆𝐫𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐂𝐮𝐥𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐚𝐥 𝐍𝐞𝐠𝐨-𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐰"

The Oreta Sports Center was filled with a liberating experience as student-performers gathered to showcase their talent in the art of dancing. This event united academic communities from across the city for an evening filled with culturally rich and vibrant performances.

The program commenced with the Philippine National Anthem, followed by a prayer, both rendered by The Archangel's Chorale/CMU Chorale.

Honorable Malabon City Mayor, Jeannie Sandoval took the stage to give her enlightening speech, followed by the Honorable Malabon City Vice-Mayor, Bernard "Ninong" Dela Cruz. Both concluded their addresses with the city's renowned motto: "Malabon ahon!"

The various dance groups electrified the stage with their captivating performances, prompting the audience to cheer enthusiastically in support. The atmosphere shifted as the dancers showcased their skills, leaving the crowd in silent anticipation and awe.

It appeared to be the Sinilikhayaw's – Saint Gabriel Academy's dance group – performance that put immense pressure in the venue's atmosphere. One would not notice a single endeavor to breathe, and it was after the Sinilikhayaw's performance that the audience took their privilege to do so. A clamor of applause stormed the venue thereafter.

It was after the dance groups' peformances that they came together as one to give the audience their final show, a perfect example of camaraderie. Taking the stage together to dance around the venue before bowing, filling the hall with a collective sigh of triumph.

The 8th KADSA Student Leaders Congress, hosted by San Jose Academy, embraced the theme “Ignite Your Greatness: Journeying with Hope and Mission.” This year’s event took place at The Shepherd’s Palace in Candaba, Pampanga, beginning with a mass at St. Gabriel Academy, presided over by KADSA Superintendent Rev. Fr. Kennedy Neral, PhD. The mass served as a spiritual foundation, inviting the Holy Spirit to guide participants on their journey.

The congress featured insightful talks on student leadership and synodality, facilitated by esteemed alumni of KADSA SLC (Student Leaders Congress) from San Jose Academy: Bro. John Christian A. Rose, Bro. Christian Lei M. Peşimo, and Bro. Paul Timothy Y. Diño. They emphasized the three key components of synodality: communion, participation, and mission. These principles underscored the importance of unity and collaboration, reminding participants that effective leadership is rooted in collective effort and shared vision.

The speakers highlighted the significant role student leaders play in their communities and how they can positively influence those around them. This emphasis on responsibility reflects a vital moral lesson: true leadership involves serving others and striving to uplift the community. A reflective activity allowed participants to identify their strengths and weaknesses in leadership, fostering personal growth and the understanding that self-awareness is essential for effective leadership.

This year’s KADSA Congress was particularly engaging, as students were introduced to the field of agriculture, gaining hands-on experience in farming. This eye-opening activity provided a new perspective on the challenges facing the agricultural sector, reinforcing the idea that empathy and understanding of different fields are crucial for effective leadership and decision-making. Following their agricultural endeavors, students enjoyed a refreshing break at the large swimming pools at The Shepherd’s Palace. A lively zumba session took place in the pool, creating an atmosphere of fun and camaraderie. This experience highlighted the importance of balance in life—working hard but also making time for joy and connection with peers.

After settling into their rooms, students prepared for the much-anticipated gala night. Prior to the festivities, a Via Lucis was conducted, where the Stations of the Resurrection were prayed over, leading participants to the gala venue. The gala featured a glamorous ambiance reminiscent of a Hollywood red carpet, captivating all attendees and celebrating their achievements.

The night showcased the talent of students from various KADSA schools, who performed and celebrated their hard work. The after-party was a vibrant affair, filled with the energetic sounds of OPM music, fostering a sense of community among the participants.

The second day of the congress shifted focus to TED Talks, where students from different KADSA schools shared their experiences as student leaders. These talks facilitated discussions on activities that nurture leadership skills and personal development. They reinforced the moral that sharing experiences can inspire and empower others, highlighting the value of mentorship and collaboration. The event concluded with the election of a new KADSA Student Board, marking the transfer of responsibility for hosting the next congress to St. Gabriel Academy. Representatives Princess Marie Limjoco and Dave Corpuz were elected as Presidents of the KADSA Student Board Council, symbolizing the hope for future leaders committed to service and community enhancement.

This year’s KADSA Congress was not only a platform for learning and leadership development but also a celebration of community, creativity, and collaboration among student leaders. It served as a powerful reminder that true greatness is ignited through service, empathy, and a commitment to uplifting others on the journey towards a brighter future.
