* WHAT...Snow. Total snow accumulations around 4 to 9 inches. Winds gusting as high as 45 mph.

* WHERE...Northwest and most of central North Dakota, including the James River Valley.

* WHEN...Until midnight CST /11 PM MST/ Tuesday Night.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow will significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions will impact the Tuesday morning commute.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Slow down and use caution while traveling. The latest road conditions can be obtained by calling 5 1 1.

Be prepared for slippery roads. Slow down and use caution while driving. If you are going outside, watch your first few steps taken on stairs, sidewalks, and driveways. These surfaces could be icy and slippery, increasing your risk of a fall and injury.

* WHAT...Heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations between 4 and 9 inches possible. Winds could gust as high as 45 mph, causing areas of blowing and drifting snow.

* WHERE...Portions of south central and southeast North Dakota.

* WHEN...From late tonight through Tuesday evening.

* IMPACTS...Plan on slippery road conditions. Areas of blowing snow could significantly reduce visibility. The hazardous conditions could impact the Tuesday morning and evening commutes.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Monitor the latest forecasts for updates on this situation.

If you are traveling, take a winter survival kit along with you, including items such as tire chains, booster cables, a flashlight, shovel, blankets, and extra clothing. Also take water, a first aid kit, and anything else that would help you survive in case you become stranded. Stay weather aware!

Central Burleigh County in south central North Dakota...

* Until 400 PM CDT.

* At 336 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 6 miles northwest of Menoken, or 7 miles northeast of
Bismarck, moving north at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
central Burleigh County.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

TAKE COVER NOW! Move to a basement or an interior room on the lowest
floor of a sturdy building. Avoid windows. If you are outdoors, in a
mobile home, or in a vehicle, move to the closest substantial shelter

* Until 345 PM CDT.

* At 313 PM CDT, a severe thunderstorm capable of producing a tornado
was located 9 miles southeast of Lincoln, or 13 miles southeast of
Bismarck, moving north at 20 mph.

HAZARD...Tornado.

SOURCE...Radar indicated rotation.

IMPACT...Flying debris will be dangerous to those caught without
shelter. Mobile homes will be damaged or destroyed.
Damage to roofs, windows, and vehicles will occur. Tree
damage is likely.

* This tornadic thunderstorm will remain over mainly rural areas of
south central Burleigh County, including the following locations...
Mcdowell Dam Recreation Area.

Update for Thursday: Confidence is increasing in potentially significant severe weather early Thursday afternoon through the evening, with parts of North Dakota upgraded to a level 3 out of 5 for numerous severe thunderstorms. All hazards are possible, including hail up to the size of tennis balls, damaging winds up to 80 mph, and a few tornadoes. Keep an eye on the weather tomorrow and check back for updates!

The NWS Storm Prediction Center has issued a

* Severe Thunderstorm Watch for portions of
Southwest and south central North Dakota

* Effective this Monday morning and afternoon from 825 AM until
400 PM CDT.

* Primary threats include...
Scattered damaging winds and isolated significant gusts to 75
mph likely
Scattered large hail events to 1.5 inches in diameter possible

SUMMARY...A storm cluster in southwest North Dakota will likely
persist and spread eastward through the morning and into the
afternoon. Damaging outflow gusts of 60-75 mph will be the main
threat, along with large hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter with the
strongest embedded storms.

The severe thunderstorm watch area is approximately along and 45
statute miles north and south of a line from 10 miles south of
Dickinson ND to 25 miles south of Jamestown ND. For a complete

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

REMEMBER...A Severe Thunderstorm Watch means conditions are
favorable for severe thunderstorms in and close to the watch area.
Persons in these areas should be on the lookout for threatening
weather conditions and listen for later statements and possible
warnings. Severe thunderstorms can and occasionally do produce
tornadoes.

extending from near Cleveland to 4 miles northwest of Tappen to 8
miles south of Tuttle, moving northeast at 50 mph.
