Mikhail Vydysh, aka Phase 313, grew up in St Petersburg, Russia listening to American and European techno on Port.fm radio in the late nineties. His performances starting in the early 2000s shaped this album, entitled I Saw the Future, which reflects on his reaction to those sounds in the context of ongoing cultural contradictions.
DTR and Modul 7’s direct nod to Detroit is as attributable as Polar Noise’s stark cold synths in an arctic landscape and Step to the Past mirrors sounds of Black Nation’s past.
