During our After School class at CFUM (Children and Family Urban Movement) last week, we discussed Self-Respect and the importance of us personally to "Celebrate Me". For the activity, students got to use blank greeting cards to make their own "Celebrate Me" card, all about what makes them special.

"Celebrate Me" personalized greeting cards symbolize taking more time to celebrate our uniqueness, our small wins, why I matter, a reminder to pat ourselves on the back more often.

All year long we gather to celebrate loved ones, friends, and special occasions—but how often do we pause to throw a celebration just for ourselves?

Let's take time to personally throw a little party for ourselves and "Celebrate Me". We deserve it!

"Four One One"
Old wood stands tall, weathered with years,
Holding the whispers of laughter and tears.
Flyers once fluttered, stapled with care,
A concert, a job, a prayer in the air.

Each nail, each tack, a story once told—
Lost dog, yard sale, a notice in bold.
Hands reached out, posting their plea,
Building a patchwork of community.

Through seasons of change, through sun, rain, and snow,
This pole kept the rhythm of places we’d go.
A bulletin board for the lives that we lead,
For neighbors to gather, for people in need.

Though the paper has faded, the message remains:
Connection is timeless, though the medium may change.
From poles to the web, the heart stays the same—
Sharing our stories, our lives, and our names.

"Empathy Shoes" 👟
If you walked in my shoes for a day,
You’d see the world in a brand-new way.
The bumps, the twists, the ups and downs,
The times I smiled, the times I frowned.

Empathy shoes help us understand,
To offer kindness, lend a hand.
So before you judge, just stop and choose,
To take a walk in empathy shoes!

We had such a fun class all about Empathy, during our summer character-building program with CFUM (Children and Family Urban Mocement) at Moulton Elementary.

Empathy adds up ➕💙 ”

"Taste of The Junction"🌎✨🎶
Colors of culture, flavors so bright,
Music and laughter light up the night.
From every nation, stories are told,
A tapestry woven with threads of gold.

Spices that dance, aromas that sing,
Drums and guitars let the heartbeat ring.
Children are smiling, neighbors unite,
Sharing traditions with pure delight.

Taste of the Junction—joy in the air,
A festival glowing with love we all share.
One world, one family, side by side,
In unity’s spirit, our hearts open wide.

"Parent Power: How The PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) Support Students and Schools"

🌟 What does parent power really look like inside a school?

Behind every bake sale, fun fair, and fundraiser is something much bigger—a Parent Teacher Organization (PTO) working tirelessly to shape the culture of a school. But it’s not just about raising money or organizing events—it’s about building a stronger community where every parent feels welcome, every voice is heard, and every student benefits. 🏫✨

🎙️ In this Do The Math 247 "Math Talk" episode, "Parent Power: How PTOs (Parent Teacher Organization) Support Students and Schools", we sit down with a former PTO President Tasha Zarghami who opens up about the victories, the hurdles, and the lasting impact that parent leadership has on school communities.

💡 From creating inclusive spaces to overcoming leadership challenges, to dreaming about what schools could look like with unlimited resources—this conversation reveals the heart and purpose of PTOs.

🎶 And yes, we even end with a little fun—favorite PTO treats and the songs that set the vibe for big events!

If you’ve ever wondered how parents can truly help shape the future of education, this episode will give you fresh perspective—and maybe even inspire you to get involved. 💬✨

📚✨ With a new school year starting across the nation, this episode shines a spotlight on the powerful role of the PTO (Parent Teacher Organization).

Thank you Tasha for being a guest on the podcast and
sharing!

✨ Big appreciation to all the parents, teachers, school staff, and volunteerswho give their time and energy to support the PTO, PTA, and other parent-led groups each school year. Your dedication makes a huge difference—thank you for all that you do!

During our Do The Math 247 Character-Building summer class at at CFUM (Children and Family Movement) we talked about what it means to be a leader and how everyone can show leadership in their own way.

Leadership isn’t measured by how many orders you give, but by how many people you help succeed. The most effective leaders practice servant leadership—putting the needs of others first, building trust, and encouraging collaboration. This approach creates a culture where everyone feels supported, valued, and motivated to do their best.
