Nifty Outlook

The equity benchmark indices ended the session on a flat note amidst intra-day volatility. However, broader market indices underperformed, with BSE Midcap and Small cap closing on a weak note. Barring Metals, Power and Auto, all the other sectoral indices witnessed selling pressure with Realty, Oil & Gas, FMCG and Healthcare being the top losers. While most of the Asian indices ended in the green, European markets were trading lower.

With the indices trading near record highs, some consolidation / correction in the coming sessions cannot be ruled out. Macro data (like inflation & IIP growth), Q3FY18 corporate earnings (which is likely to kickstart in 1-2 weeks) and global developments will dictate further trend in markets in the near term. Traders and investors should remain cautious and stick to quality stocks.
