George Brydges Rodney, better known as Admiral Rodney, was one of the Royal Navy’s greatest commanders during the age of sail. Remembered most for his decisive victory over the French at the Battle of the Saintes in 1782 during the American War of Independence, he was also involved in numerous raids against the French during the Seven Years’ War and saw his first action in the War of the Austrian Succession.
