“Lemmings Always End Up Losing”

Lemmings always end up losing — not because they are evil, but because they follow.

They follow momentum, not meaning. They move in packs because it feels safer than thinking alone. One starts to run, and the rest assume there must be a reason. And by the time anyone stops to ask why, the cliff is already in sight.

The modern world rewards that kind of movement. Click, share, repost, repeat. Outrage masquerades as courage, and mimicry as belonging. It’s easier to echo the loudest voice than to stand quietly in your own conviction.

But leadership — real leadership — begins where imitation ends. The first person to stop running and look around isn’t the traitor to the group; they’re the one who saves it. The courage to question the stampede is rarer than the courage to join it.

Progress has never been built by lemmings. It’s built by those who pause, observe, and choose their direction — even when it means walking alone.

So when you feel the pull of the crowd, remember this: the path of least resistance often leads straight off the cliff.
