Do you know what to do during an active shooter incident?

Keller PD is joining departments throughout the region in hosting a Civilian Response to Active Shooter Events training session this Saturday, June 28.

Join them from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at Keller Town Hall, 1100 Bear Creek Pkwy., for this free presentation.

Developed by the ALERRT Center, the program will offer practical strategies to “avoid, deny, defend” and teach civilians how to best interact with law enforcement during an incident.

Earlier this month, Officer Rounds observed a car driving erratically on the highway. While trying to make a traffic stop, the driver accelerated into a neighboring city. The car was ultimately abandoned near a hotel and officers apprehended the driver after a brief foot chase.

A search of the vehicle uncovered ma*****na, drug paraphernalia, an open alcohol container, and a South Carolina driver’s license belonging to someone else. The suspect admitted to using the person's ID unlawfully.

Thanks to the quick actions and persistence of Officer Rounds and officers from a neighboring police department, this suspect was safely taken into custody, preventing further risk to the public. This case also highlights the importance of vigilance in identifying and addressing identity fraud.

We commend officers for their professionalism and dedication in handling this complex and high-risk incident.
