We are pleased to announce the inaugural book from the forthcoming Antikythera x MIT Press series:

Blaise Agüera y Arcas’s What Is Intelligence? arrives September 16, 2025, offering a rigorous and far-reaching exploration of intelligence, from molecules to organisms, societies, and AI. Drawing from neuroscience, machine learning, physics, and philosophy, Blaise argues that AI’s emergence is not an anomaly but a natural consequence of evolution.

This book will also be serialized as part of Antikythera’s new digital journal, journal.antikythera.org, launching in May 2025 with a preview available now. Created in partnership with MIT Press, the journal pairs leading authors with cutting-edge design studios to transform their ideas into immersive multimedia pieces.

▫️First drop: What Is Life? - now live on the journal and in print
▫️Second drop: Chapters 2 & 3 - available now
▫️More chapters will be released in the lead-up to publication

What Is Intelligence? takes seriously the idea that modern AI systems may have a claim to intelligence, consciousness, and even free will. It reframes the predictive brain hypothesis, explores the evolutionary and social origins of intelligence, and challenges assumptions about the nature of cognition itself. Pre-order now at mitpress.mit.edu and visit the exquisite digital version designed by James Goggin (Practise) Minkyoung Kim, and Marie Otsuka at journal.antikythera.org

Amber Martin premieres herself & her legendary show, “Bathhouse Bette: A Tribute to Bette Midler at The Continental Baths”, live at Oscar’s Palm Springs. This critically acclaimed, loud, luminous & loving tribute to Bette Midler’s early career performances at The Continental Baths focuses on the early 70’s, when a 26 year-old, hungry, as-yet-unknown starlet, Bette Midler, got her chops as the resident firecracker chanteuse singing at the legendary gay bathhouse uptown NYC (now a parking lot under The Ansonia). She earned her “camp” medals in the hot & steamy bathhouse, singing to men in towels, still wet from the pool and other dark spaces. Her also as-yet-unknown house accompanist was none other than Barry Manilow, with campy jokes written by Bruce Vilanch & her hairdresser, Mister Gerard.

As per the fiery fashion of our beloved Bette… copious amounts of big-hearted singing, salty stories and spirited dancing ensue! Prepare to get a little steamy as Bathhouse Bette pays tribute to the b***y, sometimes naughty comedy, and beautiful, early music of Bette Midler in a celebration of bathhouse performances by the iconic singer, actor and comedian.

Amber will be performing live at Oscar’s on March 8th, accompanied by her very own “Barry” on piano.

“LACMA opened up a beautiful group show, Imagining Black Diasporas curated by Dhyandra Lawson.

It’s been hard to focus on anything but the climate catastrophe we are living in here in Los Angeles and in so many parts of the world. But, it feels important to celebrate the artists whose work is so beautifully exhibited.

Thank you  for this honor, and thank you for acquiring this work of mine. And thank you  for supporting my work.

Check it out!  is featured on the cover of ’s Special Year End Issue!

“Al has charted a course in the music industry that has never been done before, and likely can never be done again—to the scale of Michael Jackson and Taylor Swift—a comparison that is no joke. His body of work translates well when rediscovered and reintroduced decade after decade to new generations.”
