Merry Christmas, everyone!

As we pause for Christmas, take a breath.

This season often brings pressure. More doing. More noise. More demands.

If you lead or support a nonprofit, you feel this. Campaigns to close. Stories to share. Communities to serve.

In our work with media and online campaigns, we see something different behind the scenes.

People show up for each other. Teams work late to keep services running. Neighbors give time, skills, and support. Small acts. Quiet impact.

That is hope. That is generosity. That is progress.

We are grateful for all of you and wish you all a very Merry Christmas!

Living with food allergy feels like standing at the edge of a dance floor.

Everyone else moves with ease.
You stand still and scan for danger.

You check every label.
You rehearse every worst-case scenario.
You plan, then plan again.

More fear.
More isolation.
More second-guessing.

FARE’s new TV PSA, RISE, distibuted by Boom, offers a different picture.

Instead of freezing on the edge, you step onto the floor.
Not reckless.
Prepared.
Supported.
Informed.

That is the shift.

RISE uses dance as an analogy for life with food allergy.
You learn the steps.
You practice.
You stay aware of your limits.
You move with others who understand.

You do not control the music.
You do control how you move through it.

Here is how you start to RISE today:

→ Learn your options
- Schedule time with your allergist and ask: “What are all my treatment and management options right now?”
- Write down questions before the visit so fear does not lead the conversation.

→ Build your safety plan
- Confirm your emergency action plan with your allergist.
- Review how and when to use your epinephrine.
- Share the plan with family, caregivers, and schools.

→ Find your people
- Join one online or local food allergy group today.
- Share one thing you struggle with and one thing you do well.

→ Talk openly
- Tell one close friend or colleague about your allergy and what support looks like for you.
- Practice a simple sentence like, “I live with food allergy. Here is what I need to stay safe.”

Fear grows in silence.
Confidence grows in action.

You do not have to sit on the sidelines of your own life.
You can RISE, one informed step at a time.

If you support a community, a school, a station, or a nonprofit network, airing RISE helps families move from fear to prepared.

Share this with someone affected by food allergy today.
Start one conversation.
Help one person feel less alone and more in control.

Holiday scams are hitting teens hard as we head into the home stretch of holiday shopping.

Gen Z reports losing money to scams almost as often as millennials.

This final holiday rush is the perfect moment for parents to step in, guide their teens, and turn every wish list, digital wallet, and P2P payment into a real money lesson.

Use these last shopping days to:

1️⃣ Spot fakes together (too cheap, too urgent, too “perfect”)

2️⃣ Share your own money mistakes (stories > lectures)

3️⃣ Set 1 clear spending goal and work backwards

4️⃣ Turn on safety tools (limits, approved contacts, alerts)

5️⃣ Create 3 digital money rules (no strangers, no sketchy links, always ask before big buys) You guide the convo now.

They build confidence for every holiday after this.

The ACA subsidy extension may be top of mind at the moment but there is another healthcare policy that the public needs to know about- 'site-neutral payments'.

As healthcare costs soar, a promising bipartisan reform called 'site-neutral payments' could save seniors money. This policy ensures you pay the same amount for the same service, no matter where you receive it, potentially saving seniors over $1,200 annually.

Imagine this: Medicare pays more for a service at a hospital than at an independent clinic. This drives up costs for seniors. Site-neutral payments fix this. In December 2023, the House passed the Lower Costs, More Transparency Act to push these reforms. It has strong support but faces pushback from hospitals as it cuts their higher reimbursements.

Here's why these matters:
- Equal payments regardless of service location.
- Potential out-of-pocket savings over $1,000 for conditions like cancer.
- Supported by experts and former HHS Secretaries.

What's at stake?
- Transparency.
- Fairness.
- Affordable healthcare for millions.

It's time to advocate for policies that lower healthcare costs while ensuring transparency. Engage with this issue. Reach out to your representatives and support reforms that can transform the way we handle healthcare payments in the U.S.

Let’s make sure this reform doesn’t just sit on the table. Let’s push for change.

👀We're keeping our eyes on this.

The ongoing competition between Netflix and Paramount to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery is more than a corporate tug-of-war. It potentially has significant implications for public service announcements (PSAs) and nonprofit organizations. Here's how:

- Advertising Strategy Shift: If Netflix acquires Warner Bros., a major portion of the streaming market becomes consolidated. This could lead to increased advertising rates due to decreased competition. Nonprofits might find it challenging to secure affordable slots, limiting their PSA reach.

- Content Distribution Changes: New ownership could prioritize content aligned with their brand, potentially sidelining traditional PSA slots. Fewer opportunities might be available for nonprofits to share their messages through mainstream channels.

- Regulatory and Policy Implications: The merger is likely to face intense regulatory scrutiny. This could lead to new policies affecting advertising practices, including those related to PSAs.

Millions of children go to schools that don’t have the supplies they need, from books to computers to art supplies. DonorsChoose, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization and website used by teachers at 90% of public schools, is working to change that by providing a platform where teachers can receive direct support.

Check out their new public service announcement campaign, distributed by Boom, which shows how anyone can help provide support and be part of the change.

Ever wonder why certain PSAs go viral or stick with you long after you’ve seen them? It’s not an accident — it’s emotional science at work.

Here’s the "Emotional Toolkit" our teams use to help our clients spark real change through their :

✅Empathy

Show someone in a tough spot — a struggling family, a lonely senior, a neglected animal — and suddenly we feel the issue. Empathy pulls us into another person’s shoes and inspires us to help.

✅Guilt

It’s uncomfortable… and that’s the point. When a PSA highlights a societal wrong or a personal habit we overlook, that little pang of guilt becomes a push toward better behavior.

✅Hope

Not all PSAs are heavy. Some say, “Look! Change is possible.” Hope-based stories give us a vision of a better future — and make taking action feel empowering, not exhausting.

✅Sadness

A heartfelt moment, a difficult truth, a quiet story that hits you right in the chest. Sadness creates urgency and reminds us that the issue is real, human, and deeply important.

Bottom line: Emotion is the engine of action. 💡

The most effective PSAs don’t just inform us — they move us.

Which emotion-based PSA has stuck with you the most?
