Congratulations Dallas Burrow!
It’s a huge honor and thrill that renowned rock journalist and author Sylvie Simmons has reviewed my new album ‘The Way the West Was Won’ ( out 9/26 on - link in bio ) for Mojo Magazine and given it 4 stars! Sylvie has, among other things, famously written the biography on Leonard Cohen, as well as feature stories on the likes of Bob Dylan and Neil Young. She covers the big boys, and she knows what she’s talking about. Here’s what’s she has to say:

“The Way The West Was Won
40 BELOW. CD/DL/LP
Thirteen new songs from Texas cowboy-poet.
Burrow keeps impressive company.
The producer of his new album is Lloyd Maines, Texas country music royalty, an inductee into no end of country music halls of fame whose CV includes Guy Clark, Terry Allen, Wilco, and the Dixie Chicks. The guest artists are impressive too - Jim Lauderdale, Kelly Willis, and Ray Wylie Hubbard. The last of these, a favourite of this column, joins Burrow on the album’s opening track Read ‘Em And Weep, a gambling song that’s so good you’ll want to stick around and listen to the rest of the record. In style it ranges from storytelling cowboy songs (The Way The West Was Won; Tornado) to gentle folk (Colorado Bound) and more than a dash of Townes Van Zandt. A fine album by a young musician with an old soul.”
