80 years ago today Terence Gallacher started work at British Movietone News at 22 Soho Square, London.
Movietone was one of the main Newsreels of the day, long before the advent of television, newsreels were shown in cinemas and for many were the only source of news.
His book, "The Movietone Years", is available today in Kindle form on Amazon.
Terry's book celebrates the invention and ingenuity of his colleagues and shares first-hand experience of the people and the process to get a story to the screen.
My father, Terence Gallacher, joined British Movietone News on 1st October 1945 as a seventeen-year-old General Office clerk for Two Pounds, five shillings a week. Movietone’s address was 22 Soho Square, London.
