CONSPIRACY OF SILENCE

Court ruling last week okayed the ouster of Nyandarua County Assembly Majority Leader James Mwangi and Minority Leader Githinji Ngumba 'Mdosi' paving way for new leadership of the Assembly. Murungaru MCA Hon Maguna and Gatimu MCA Hon Kieru wa Wambui are said to be positioning to go for the Majority Leader position and although Kinangop MCAs could rally behind Maguna who hails from North Kinangop same as ousted Majority Leader, mercurial Kieru may as well pull a surprise and demolish the so called tyranny of numbers currently held by Kinangop. The seat of Minority Leader is a one horse race and Karao MCA Hon Kamau Sammy Ngotho is poised to take it. The two seats are important as they give the two automatic membership to the powerful Nyandarua County Assembly Service Board.

The other members of NCASB are the Honourable Speaker Ndegwa Wahome and Hon Kamau Thirikwa Kamau representing the public.

The media people from Nyandarua did not pick on this important news.

The Laikipia based James Munyeki was unavailable for comments.

THE FIGURE AND THE GROUND

In today's Standard newspaper there is this story about the CEC nominees that were rejected by the Nyandarua County Assembly.

It is how the story is presented in the paper and the subliminal marketing of the Deputy Governor Waithaka Kirika that has caught my eye.

Let me teach you a bit of psychology.

Figure-ground organization as a type of perceptual grouping is critical in recognizing objects through vision. That is in Gestalt Psychology.

My good friend James Munyeki tells me that it is the editor who has put DG Kirika's photo in today's story "perhaps through names confusion".
We are being told subliminally that it is the DG who has blocked the approval of the nominees. That is why his picture in the story is the figure and the Assembly is mere background.

EDUCATION CEC NOMINEE EDA WANGARU FOUND UNSUITABLE FOR THE JOB

The Nyandarua County Assembly vetting committee has found the nominee for the position of CEC Education, Culture and Social Services Madam Eda Wangaru unsuitable to hold office for various reasons main among them that she failed to produce Form 4 KCSE certificate. However, Madam Wangaru had produced a degree certificate from the UoN showing she graduated with an upper second honours degree.

Madam Wangaru who is the immediate former Vice Chair of Nyandarua County Public Service Board finds herself in unfamiliar territories as she is now in limbo and her inability to produce the O Level certificate will come to haunt her should she get appointment in any other capacity that needs vetting. And now that the information is in public domain then it will be too bad for her.

The other nominee Mr Julius Kamau Muthanwa though was found suitable for the position of CEC Roads and Public Works will have to wait a little as the report says that his position is not yet vacant as the suspended CEC Engineer Mugo Chiuri is yet to be formally discharged of his duties.

INSIGHTS INTO THE POLITICAL FUTURE.

The political gridlock you are witnessing in Nyandarua County and the attendant confusion is fuelled by false narrative of mix up of names of Waithaka Mwangis and the panic by incumbent leaders now that the talk of "miaka yangu tano" has shrunk into “2017" which is "next year" 62 days from today.

I read a few months ago a Facebook update by one of the people I usually read and take seriously, a budding political scientist and student leader John Methu Penninah about Kinangop subcounty being the Nithi of Nyandarua with mixed feelings.

Mixed feelings because though impossible to achieve, any kind of regional nationalism is not desirable in Nyandarua yet we could see regions (sub counties) coming together and bargaining as a block the disunity in the blocks not withstanding.

Behind the facade of subcounties unity and attendant nationalism lies fragmented units whose motto could best be, "Divided We Stand". Talk of North versus South Kinangop; Olkalou versus Mirangine; Wanjohi versus Bushi ; Ndaragwa ya Kianda versus Ndaragwa ya Rugongo ; Oljororok is split into Wards with wards being further fragmented!

The Waithakas (Governor Daniel Waithaka and Deputy Governor Waithaka Kirika) have jointly and unapologetically blown the opportunity to unite Nyandarua. Olkalou as it were (Karau Ward, Kaimbaga Ward and Rurii) ran away with three main County seats namely: Governorship, Senator seat and the Speaker of the NCA. And as if to fulfill the scriptures that the one with more will get everything else got the Clerk of the County Assembly, Chairmanship of the Nyandarua County Public Service Board, the Secretary of the Board and the seat of the County Government in Olkalou to boot.

In 2017 we are looking for a unifying force. All corners of the County MUST be considered at the table where the cake will be shared. We need brave Nyandaruans who will clean the trickster philosophy of the Nyandarua Leaders Forum.

I have this special insight that the initials FKs are all what we need to unite Nyandarua from Kenton to Kalampton; Geta Bushi to Dundori Gwa Kiongo; Mawingu to Mwangaza and Nine One.

And consider all qualified Nyandaruans from all over the County for big seats, including Yours truly, from the humble Sirte.

NYANDARUA MCAs COMPLICIT IN OUR PROBLEMS

Looking keenly at our county you get a feeling that all is not well. You try to apportion blame and it does not take you a long time to know where the problem is.

Nyandarua County Assembly(NCA) is the body mandated by the Constitution to keep the Nyandarua Executive in check through legislation and oversight. Unfortunately, the NCA and the Executive have become enmeshed in their roles with the Assembly giving the Executive a carte blanch to do as it wishes.

The MCAs are to blame for all the problems we are facing as a county. They have demonstrated sheer lack of will and capacity to put the Executive in check. In fact they are always very keep to take up and/or usurp executive functions as seen in the 2013/14 infamous 'roads construction', hiring of Ward Administrators, and their interference with award of tenders and contracts.

Today, Nyandarua MCAs as it were are law unto themselves. If we are to grow as a county we must do something about the current crop of MCAs. When they are not trying to impeach the Speaker they are on strike over hefty allowances.

August 8.8.2017 we have the chance to remedy this. Kindly send to the Assembly individuals with capacity.

HON FRANCIS KIMEMIA CLEARANCE BY EACC

Hon Francis Kimemia the suspended Secretary to the Cabinet has just been cleared of all corruption allegations by the Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission. Hon Kimemia was among several key government officials that stepped aside after being linked to corruption and/or abuse of office.

The clearance of Honourable Francis Kimemia is a big boost for Nyandarua that is likely to see their son restored to his office and/or opens the door for him to seek an elective seat in Nyandarua.

There have been massive calls from cross section of people from Nyandarua calling on him to go for governorship. Hon Kimemia has been guarded on his political moves but his heightened activities in Nyandarua in recent times are biggest indicators of what could be in the offing.

Nyandarua County News Online wishes to congratulate Hon Kimemia upon his clearance. He has always protested his innocence and now he has been vindicated.

NEW JUBILEE PARTY GOOD

Jubilee Alliance Party was a bad idea. A few people led by former MP David Murathe had plotted to control the politics of the Jubilee strongholds via J*P. They were busy selling the J*P franchises to the counties. Incumbent MPs were the highest bidders and they had positioned their people as J*P "County Directors" and there was widespread feelings that the unpopular MPs would have locked rivals from J*P.

The new Jubilee Party is a different ball game. More than ten parties are closing shop and are coming together to form one strong party. They will not be coming into Jubilee as junior partners but as equal partners. PNU, GNU, New Ford Kenya, TNA, URP, and others are coming together and this is very good news for Uhuruto re-election bid.

J*P was dead on arrival and the Kajiado Central elections confirmed that.

In Nyandarua the incumbent MPs should embrace competitive politics and should not attempt to hijack the Jubilee Party to resurrect themselves politically.
